Since 2000, the online anthology Best New Zealand Poems has showcased the most exciting and memorable poetry produced in this country. Here, for the first time, is a selection of this work in book form. Edited by founding publisher Bill Manhire, and writer Damien Wilkins, this anthology is an indispensable guide to the richness, strangeness, and liveliness of contemporary poetry. With over sixty poets appearing, there's classic work by some of the best-known figures in our writing, including Sam Hunt, Allen Curnow, Jenny Bornholdt, Cilla McQueen, Elizabeth Smither, and Ian Wedde; there are also compelling poems from new writers. Each poet's own note on the selection illuminates the work and takes us inside the writer’s personal workshop. The first decade of the new century comes into view as a vibrant, argumentative, restless period, with our poets unafraid of either political engagement or strong personal feeling.

New New Zealand Poets In Performance written by Jack Ross and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008 with Poetry categories.

"From Anne Kennedy to Andrew Johnston, Jenny Bornholdt to Glenn Colquhoun, New New Zealand Poets In Performance celebrates the rich jangle of clashing ideas, voices and genders that combine to make contemporary culture. It collects the work of 28 young and mid-career poets - who came to prominence in the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s - notable for their variety, their fresh approaches to poetic form and subject, and their distinctive but complementary voices. This book is a follow-up and companion to the bestselling Classic New Zealand Poets in Performance and Contemporary New Zealand Poets in Performance. Editors Jack Ross and Jan Kemp have selected and presented on two CDs material largely from the Aotearoa New Zealand Poetry Sound Archive, completed in 2004. There are more than two hours of poets reading their own work and the accompanying book prints the texts of the poems as they have been read. Selected bibliographies and short biographies for each poet are also included, as well as an appendix of variant readings." --Book Jacket.

Imagination And The Creative Impulse In The New Literatures In English written by Maria Teresa Bindella and has been published by Rodopi this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1993 with Literary Criticism categories.

Imagination and the Creative Impulse in the New Literatures in Englishbrings together the proceedings of a symposium organised by the editors at the University of Trento in 1990. At a time when the study of the post-colonial literatures is gaining more widespread recognition, scholars based mainly at universities in Italy and Germany were invited to address the manner in which writers are giving literary expression to the complexity of contemporary post-colonial and multicultural societies and to consider, from their differing perspectives on the new literatures, central questions of formal experimentation, linguistic innovation, social and political commitment, textual theory and cross-culturality. Focusing on such major writers such as Achebe, Soyinka and Walcott, as well as on lesser-known figures such as Jack Davis, Witi Ihimaera, Rohinton Mistry and Manohar Malgonkar, the contributors take up many themes characteristic of the new literatures: the challenge posed to traditional authority, the expression of national identity, the role of literature in the liberation struggle, modes of literary practice in multicultural societies; the relationship of the new literatures in English to that of the former metropolitan centre; and the complex intertextuality characterizing much of the literary production of post-colonial societies.
