El comercio entre España y América, vínculo esencial del imperio, es analizado por Murdo J. MacLeod y el cuadro se cierra con el capítulo en que el profesor Bradling se ocupa de la España de los Borbones y su imperio americano, hasta llegar a los años de la emancipación de las colonias.
