La vallée de Chamonix au panorama exceptionnel est bien pourvue en sentiers de Servoz à Vallorcine : sentiers de basse vallée ou de moyenne montagne sur plusieurs versants pouvant conduire vers les refuges et au-delà. Il en va de même dans le Val Montjoie, le Valais tout proche et le Val d'Aoste sur l'autre versant du Mont-Blanc. Coté Aiguilles rouges, les sentiers font face à l'immense chaîne du mont Blanc qui se développe de l'aiguille du tour aux Dômes de Miage : univers de glace et de roc et se découpant dans le ciel au-dessus de forets de mélèzes, d'épicéas et d'arolles soutenant les alpages et les moraines. Le Val d'Aoste avec le Val Ferret et le Val Veny contraste par l'ampleur des parois qui tombent à pic de plus de 4 000 m souvent sur les alpages et les vallées en auge qui s'étirent d'Est en Ouest. Le Val Monjoie enfin, offre avec la vallée des Glaciers un décor plus tranquille et paisible dominé par l'immensité des plateaux herbeux où tintent les clarines des troupeaux, loin des villes et des soucis.
