A Prophet Like Moses written by Jeffrey Stackert and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-07-01 with Religion categories.

Jeffrey Stackert addresses two of the oldest and most persistent problems in biblical studies: the relationship between prophecy and law in the Hebrew Bible and the utility of the Documentary Hypothesis for understanding Israelite religion. These topics have in many ways dominated pentateuchal studies and the investigation of Israelite religion since the nineteenth century, culminating in Julius Wellhausen's influential Prolegomena to the History of Ancient Israel. Setting his inquiry against this backdrop while drawing on and extending recent developments in pentateuchal theory, Stackert tackles the subject through an investigation of the different presentations of Mosaic prophecy in the four Torah sources. His book shows that these texts contain a rich and longstanding debate over prophecy, its relation to law, and its place in Israelite religion. With this argument, A Prophet Like Moses demonstrates a new role for the Documentary Hypothesis in discussions of Israelite religion. It also provides an opportunity for critical reflection on the history of the field of biblical studies. Stackert concludes with an argument for the importance of situating biblical studies and the study of ancient Israelite religion within the larger field of religious studies rather than treating them solely or even primarily as theological disciplines.

Constructivist Theories Of Ethnic Politics written by Kanchan Chandra and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-10-25 with Political Science categories.

Taking the possibility of change in ethnic identity into account, this book shows and dismantles the theoretical logics linking ethnic diversity to negative outcomes and processes such as democratic destabilisation, clientelism, riots and state collapse. Even more importantly, it changes the questions we can ask about the relationship between ethnicity, politics and economics.

Geometric Aspects Of Functional Analysis written by Ronen Eldan and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-11-01 with Mathematics categories.

This book reflects general trends in the study of geometric aspects of functional analysis, understood in a broad sense. A classical theme in the local theory of Banach spaces is the study of probability measures in high dimension and the concentration of measure phenomenon. Here this phenomenon is approached from different angles, including through analysis on the Hamming cube, and via quantitative estimates in the Central Limit Theorem under thin-shell and related assumptions. Classical convexity theory plays a central role in this volume, as well as the study of geometric inequalities. These inequalities, which are somewhat in spirit of the Brunn-Minkowski inequality, in turn shed light on convexity and on the geometry of Euclidean space. Probability measures with convexity or curvature properties, such as log-concave distributions, occupy an equally central role and arise in the study of Gaussian measures and non-trivial properties of the heat flow in Euclidean spaces. Also discussed are interactions of this circle of ideas with linear programming and sampling algorithms, including the solution of a question in online learning algorithms using a classical convexity construction from the 19th century.

General Relativity And Cosmology With Engineering Applications written by Harish Parthasarathy and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-03-30 with Science categories.

This is a reference book for researchers working in the field of general relativity, quantum mechanics and quantum gravity. A major part of the book deals with the formulation of special relativistic mechanics, special relativistic fluid dynamics and its generalization to general relativity where the gravitational field is described by a metric tensor. Emphasis is laid on the fact that the general theory of relativity is of tensorial character under all dieomorphisms of space-time and hence its field equations, namely the Einstein field equations for gravitation, the Maxwell equations in a curved space-time geometry and the fluid dynamical equations in curved space time are all valid for all observers in the universe. The emphasis throughout is on the fact that matter generates a gravitational field described by a metric that has a non-vanishing curvature tensor and hence such space-times are inherently curved, ie, cannot be transformed into Minkowsian form. There is a final section on quantum mechanics and quantum field theory which introduces supersymmetry and quantum gravity to the reader. The reader after going through this book will be sufficiently well equipped to start research in quantum gravity, i.e, background independent physics which is as yet an unsolved problem owing to renormalization problems. Note: T& F does not sell or distribute the Hardback in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
