ChinacomBiz 2008 was the first international business-to-business (B2B) conference held in collaboration with the Chinacom scientific event in Hangzhou, China, on August 28. It was specifically tailored to produce more effective dialogue between the research, technology and business communities on technical developments in China and around the world. The event had industry support via well-know industry names such as the WIFI Alliance, Springer, CREATE-NET and Arris. The main focus of the event was on transport networks and infrastructures, video distribution systems and methods and the associated software systems that tie them all together. A total of 24 authors submitted their papers and a final 11 registrations were accepted. It was an excellent start to the B2B program and feedback was positive from all attendees. The presentations this year originated from the USA, Denmark, Germany, Brazil and of course China, providing the audience with a wide variety of topics and persp- tives in all the three categories mentioned above. The presentations from the event are available for download from the website itself (see http://www.chinacombiz.org/). Next year’s event is already being planned and it will again be collocated with the Chinacom scientific event. We look forward to having another great interaction with science, business and technology from a China perspective. August 2008 Patrick Bond

This book addresses the applications and technical aspects of radio-based vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication that can be established by short- and medium range communication based on wireless local area network technology (primarily IEEE 802.11). It contains a coherent treatment of the important topics and technologies contributed by leading experts in the field, covering the potential applications for and their requirements on the communications system. The authors cover physical and medium access control layer issues with focus on IEEE 802.11-based systems, and show how many of the applications benefit when information is efficiently disseminated, and the techniques that provide attractive data aggregation (also includes design of the corresponding middleware). The book also considers issues such as IT-security (means and fundamental trade-off between security and privacy), current standardization activities such as IEEE 802.11p, and the IEEE 1609 standard series. Key Features: Covers the state-of-the-art in the field of vehicular inter-networks such as safety and efficiency applications, physical and medium access control layer issues, middleware, and security Shows how vehicular networks differ from other mobile networks and illustrates the idea of vehicle-to-vehicle communications with application scenarios and with current proofs of concept worldwide Addresses current standardization activities such as IEEE 802.11p and the IEEE 1609 standard series Offers a chapter on mobility models and their use for simulation of vehicular inter-networks Provides a coherent treatment of the important topics and technologies contributed by leading academic and industry experts in the field This book provides a reference for professional automotive technologists (OEMS and suppliers), professionals in the area of Intelligent Transportation Systems, and researchers attracted to the field of wireless vehicular communications. Advances in Delay-Tolerant Networks: Architecture and Enhanced Performance, Second Edition provides an important overview of delay-tolerant networks (DTNs) for researchers in electronics, computer engineering, telecommunications and networking for those in academia and R&D in industrial sectors. Part I reviews the technology involved and the prospects for improving performance, including different types of DTN and their applications, such as satellite and deep-space communications and vehicular communications. Part II focuses on how the technology can be further improved, addressing topics, such as data bundling, opportunistic routing, reliable data streaming, and the potential for rapid selection and dissemination of urgent messages. Opportunistic, delay-tolerant networks address the problem of intermittent connectivity in a network where there are long delays between sending and receiving messages, or there are periods of disconnection. Reviews the different types of DTN and shows how they can be applied in satellite and deep-space communications, vehicular communications (including unmanned aerial), and during large-scale disasters Considers security concerns for DTN and potential for rapid selection and dissemination of urgent messages Reviews the breadth of areas in which DTN is already providing solutions Covers the prospects for DTN's wider adoption and development of standards

Handbook Of Peer To Peer Networking written by Xuemin Shen and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-03-03 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Peer-to-peer networking is a disruptive technology for large scale distributed app- cations that has recently gained wide interest due to the successes of peer-to-peer (P2P) content sharing, media streaming, and telephony applications. There are a large range of other applications under development or being proposed. The - derlying architectures share features such as decentralizaton, sharing of end system resources, autonomy, virtualization, and self-organization. These features constitute the P2P paradigm. This handbook broadly addresses a large cross-section of c- rent research and state-of-the-art reports on the nature of this paradigm from a large number of experts in the ?eld. Several trends in information and network technology such as increased perf- mance and deployment of broadband networking, wireless networking, and mobile devices are synergistic with and reinforcing the capabilities of the P2P paradigm. There is general expectation in the technical community that P2P networking will continue to be an important tool for networked applications and impact the evo- tion of the Internet. A large amount of research activity has resulted in a relatively short time, and a growing community of researchers has developed. The Handbook of Peer-to-Peer Networking is dedicated to discussions on P2P networks and their applications. This is a comprehensive book on P2P computing.

The aim of this book is to provide some useful methods to improve the spectrum sensing performance in a systematic way, and point out an effective method for the application of cognitive radio technology in wireless communications. The book gives a a state-of-the-art survey and proposes some new cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) methods attempting to achieve better performance. For each CSS, the main idea and corresponding algorithm design are elaborated in detail. This book covers the fundamental concepts and the core technologies of CSS, especially its latest developments. Each chapter is presented in a self-sufficient and independent way so that the reader can select the chapters interesting to them. The methodologies are described in detail so that the readers can repeat the corresponding experiments easily. It will be a useful book for researchers helping them to understand the classifications of CSS, inspiring new ideas about the novel CSS technology for CR, and learning new ideas from the current status of CSS. For engineers, it will be a good guidebook to develop practical applications for CSS.
