Marginality does not mean isolation. In Africa where people are permanently on the move in search, inter alia, of a 'better elsewhere', marginality means disconnection to obvious possibilities and the invisibility of the myriad connections that make life possible for the ordinarily sidestepped. L’histoire récente de l’Afrique se caractérise par la ‘révolution’ des technologies de l’information et de la communication (TIC), plus spécifiquement la téléphonie mobile qui interroge les enjeux identitaires dans les sociétés africaines. Ce livre explore la manifestation de la dynamique des TIC dans la société hadjeray au Guera, Tchad, qui a connu violences politiques, mobilité et rupture au sein des familles et aujourd’hui ‘retrouvailles’ grâce à la téléphonie mobile et aux réseaux sociaux sur Internet. L’auteur de ce livre, lui-même issu de cette société, et conscient des risques de subjectivités de travailler sur sa propre société, est parti des faits, pratiques et discours des enquêtés pour faufiler dans les dédales et méandres de la complexité des relations entre les concepts de conflit, de mobilité et de communication sur fond de dynamique identitaire. L’auteur a axé son travail sur le rôle de la communication pendant les crises, dans la mobilité et aujourd’hui dans la dynamique relationnelle née de la facilité qu’offrent les TIC, en particulier la téléphonie mobile et le réseau social Facebook très prisé par les jeunes. Il montre les appropriations réciproques entre les TIC et la population hadjeray. Ces appropriations réciproques se traduisent par l’ouverture au monde par les TIC et en même temps le repli identitaire favorisé par les TIC. The recent history of Africa is characterised by the 'revolution' in information and communication technologies (ICT), specifically in the sector of mobile telephony, which reconsiders the challenges pertaining to identity in African societies. In this book, we follow the manifestation of such dynamic forces in the Hadjeray society in Guera, Tchad, a society that has suffered a history of political violence, mobility and failures. The study shows the role of the Chadian government in the implementation of ICT and explains how government logics have amplified. Through the analysis of the changes in the economic and social spheres, occurring due to mobile telephony, we discover the identity issues that are also informed by the feeling of fear, which is part of the Chadian history of violence. However, the ways in which the Hadjeray adopt this new technology also leave them with a means to escape the logic of violence and disruption. It is mostly a dynamic force that occurs amongst the youth who, by making use of mobile networks, discover another mode of identification, between the ethnic group and the more global identity, and find through it a political voice.

C'est l'embargo sur l'exportation de pétrole, décrété par le roi Fayçal d'Arabie deux semaines après le déclenchement de la guerre du Kippour (5 octobre 1973) entre l'Egypte et la Syrie d'un côté et l'Etat hébreu de l'autre, qui poussa Washington à s'intéresser de près à une solution de ce problème du ProcheOrient qui perdure depuis 1948. La préoccupation première était de sauvegarder la sécurité et le flux du pétrole de la région. Henry Kissinger, secrétaire d'Etat aux Affaires étrangères, se déplace dans la région et enclenche un processus qui aboutit à deux désengagements des forces sur les fronts syrien et égyptien. Il reste le cœur du problème, les Palestiniens dont la Centrale (l'OLP) se trouve au Liban. L'OLP, décomposée en de multiples milices, utilisait la scène libanaise comme base de départ pour ses actions terroristes dans le monde. Il devenait impératif de contrôler la pagaille palestinienne pour inclure les Palestiniens dans " le projet de paix " de Washington. Kissinger charge Hafez et Assad de la sale besogne. Il permet, à la demande de ce dernier, de lui livrer le Liban en échange de sa mission. L'entreprise belliqueuse du dictateur syrien cible l'élimination militaire et politique de la communauté chrétienne en premier lieu (seule communauté à s'opposer par les armes à la double hégémonie syrienne et palestinienne). Il cache son stratagème sous l'aspect d'une guerre intercommunautaire qu'il s'acharnera à provoquer. Sur cette guerre du Liban (entreprise syro-américaine) déclenchée en avril 1975, se greffent plusieurs projets régionaux et internationaux. L'Union soviétique tente d'exploiter l'OLP de Yasser Arafat pour devancer le tandem syro-américain et instaurer une tête de pont au Liban. Israël tente de créer un état chrétien qui lui servirait de garde du corps. L'Iran projette la création d'un état islamique. La disparition du dictateur de Damas (10 juin 2000) et le cataclysme du 11 septembre qui engendra une nouvelle politique américaine, le tout associé à un revirement de la politique française, permirent, trente ans plus tard, le soulèvement de l'indépendance et la révolution du Cèdre.
