Isu-isu yang ditonjolkan disampaikan dengan cara yangsangat mudah sehingga khalayak pembaca tidak menyedari yangia merupakan satu isu besar. Isu menduakan Allah, berpuasa tahaptinggi dan konsep mengingati Allah secara istiqamah dihujahkandengan penuh kasih sayang.Ia sebuah buku yang mahu dan boleh dihabiskan secepatmungkin tanpa berlalu begitu sahaja. Masya Allah, Subhanallah, Allahuakbar. Sungguh, saya rasa teruja apabila dikhabarkan ketiga-tiga buku, iaitu Travelog Haji: Mengubah Sempadan Iman (THMSI), Travelog Dakwah: Meniti Hari Esok (TDMHE), dan 50 Tip Motivasi Haji (50TMH) hasil karya bersama PTS akan diterbitkan semula sebagai buku tunggal. Ia memberi makna mendalam kepada perjalanan kehidupan saya bersama pembaca. Tentu sekali saya masih terkenang bagaimana teragak-agaknya hati dan perasaan ketika menghulurkan manuskrip THMSI kepada Puan Ainon Mohamad (Pengerusi PTS) pada Pesta Buku Antarabangsa Kuala Lumpur 2007. Sepatah komen beliau, “Buku ini akan memberi kesan motivasi besar kepada khalayak pembaca.” Beliau menolak rasa tidak yakin kepada keperluan menerbitkan buku ini. THMSI adalah sejarah. Proses penulisannya melalui pelbagai tahap dalaman yang tidak mampu saya catatkan secara terperinci. Ada ketikanya air mata menitis tanpa paksaan. Ada ketikanya saya tersenyum sendirian. Namun, rasa tunduk dan patuh kepada-Nya melingkari hari-hari bersama rasa hati yang sentiasa bersyukur dengan pengalaman yang membuka sempadan iman. TDMHE adalah catatan pasca haji. Ia ditulis ketika hati masih terawang-awang dengan keinginan mahu menjadi manusia terbaik di sisi-Nya. Ia ditulis sejurus pulang dari Makkah dan Madinah. Saya mempunyai keinginan yang jelas, seperti mahu sentiasa menunaikan solat berjemaah di masjid, bangun malam, berpuasa sunat, membaca Al-Quran dan terjemahan, serta membersihkan hati. Ia permintaan dan permohonan kepada-Nya terlangsung bermula ketika hati resah gelisah mengenangi kisah-kisah lampau. Ini sebagaimana catatan dalam THMSI. Rasa ini yang melahirkan 50TMH. Ia adalah THMSI yang dipermudahkan. Khalayak pembaca mungkin bersama-sama merasai travelog haji dengan melihat bagaimana seorang profesor yang tidak pandai membaca Al-Quran mengenal huruf dan menamatkan bacaan selepas sebulan lebih berada di Makkah. Malah, ramai yang teruja membaca bagaimana saya menghabiskan bacaan terjemahan Al-Quran dalam tempoh enam hari semasa berada di Madinah. Namun, catatan yang dipersembahkan kepada khalayak bukan soal emosi semata-mata. Ia mengandungi pelbagai falsafah yang mampu dipertimbangkan oleh bakal jemaah haji. Akhirnya, ketiga-tiga buku ini, iaitu THMSI, TDMHE, dan 50TMH bersifat kesalingan. Mengumpulnya dalam buku tunggal membawa manfaat kepada khalayak pembaca, terutamanya mereka yang mengenali saya selepas tujuh tahun penghasilan buku THMSI. Kesukaran mencari ketiga-tiga buku serentak menjadikan penghasilan buku ini menjadi relevan.

The many significant technological and medical advances of the 21st century cannot overcome the escalating risk posed to older adults by such stressors as pain, weakness, fatigue, depression, anxiety, memory and other cognitive deficits, hearing loss, visual impairment, isolation, marginalization, and physical and mental illness. In order to overcome these and other challenges, and to maintain as high a quality of life as possible, older adults and the professionals who treat them need to promote and develop the capacity for resilience, which is innate in all of us to some degree. The purpose of this book is to provide the current scientific theory, clinical guidelines, and real-world interventions with regard to resilience as a clinical tool. To that end, the book addresses such issues as concepts and operationalization of resilience; relevance of resilience to successful aging; impact of personality and genetics on resilience; relationship between resilience and motivation; relationship between resilience and survival; promoting resilience in long-term care; and the lifespan approach to resilience. By addressing ways in which the hypothetical and theoretical concepts of resilience can be applied in geriatric practice, Resilience in Aging provides inroads to the current knowledge and practice of resilience from the perspectives of physiology, psychology, culture, creativity, and economics. In addition, the book considers the impact of resilience on critical aspects of life for older adults such as policy issues (e.g., nursing home policies, Medicare guidelines), health and wellness, motivation, spirituality, and survival. Following these discussions, the book focuses on interventions that increase resilience. The intervention chapters include case studies and are intended to be useful at the clinical level. The book concludes with a discussion of future directions in optimizing resilience in the elderly and the importance of a lifespan approach to aging.
