A abordagem da leitura musical à primeira vista ao piano relacionada à Teoria Flow de Csikszentmihalyi possibilita reflexões no processo de ensino e aprendizagem da música. Dessa forma, o objetivo deste estudo é investigar e verificar o processo de desenvolvimento nesta prática na perspectiva da experiência ótima – flow. Foram levantados dados bibliográficos a respeito da leitura musical à primeira vista, da Teoria do Flow, dos processos cognitivos e de aprendizagem, das atividades cerebrais e da Psicologia Positiva. Recorremos às técnicas da pesquisa-ação, com abordagem quali-quantitativa como forma sequenciada, sistemática e empiricamente embasada para aprimorar nossas proposições quanto à aprendizagem da leitura à primeira vista ao piano. Como instrumento de pesquisa, utilizamos a entrevista semiestruturada, o questionário fechado e o teste do flow - Escala de Fluxo Disposicional Longa (DFS-2). A partir das informações colhidas em laboratório, somadas aos depoimentos obtidos nas entrevistas e questionários e aos resultados do teste flow DFS-2, identificamos um conjunto de características e dados relacionados às propriedades do flow, a saber: metas claras, retorno imediato, desafios e habilidades, controle de desempenho, concentração profunda, foco e metas no presente, atividade reflexiva transcendental e experiência autotélica.
