This poetry book is contributed to the continue struggle in my life, personal, and professional, to the overall things that is in my heart that happens each and every day. It’s the way of the world being expressed on paper. It’s what I see with my eyes that other refuse to see or say or just realize. It’s being expressed from the abusive stages, to failure relationships, to lack of parenting, to the love of my mom. It’s my way to be able to speak out loud and be heard. There’s happy time, to the extreme devastation in the circle of the society life surrounding me. Again writing poetry is my way to express my inner feelings that was locked inside of my soul. It’s away to relax and sooth my mental stages that affects my physical presents. It was a way to say how love, death, reality can motivate or depress my life without me being in control. It was my way to cry on paper and not be afraid of what anyone thinks about the things I have to say because it’s my feeling and my beliefs. I can say the things that men won’t admit to or reject because of taking it personal. It’s a way to express reality and at the same time talk real talk. It was my way to express my sorrow for the systems i.e. educational, welfare, and for the kids of the future in this society. It’s my way of keeping it real with me, and anyone who’s willing to believe what I’m saying. 1st of all I would like to thank the man above because he has watched over me and have protected me through out. I would like to dedicate this poetry book to my wonderful mom (Jeraldine Williams), because without the strength of her for always believing in me none of this would have been possible. So I dedicate this book in behalf of my buddy, my chick, my best friend, my mom. Thank you!

African American Novels in the Black Lives Matter Era: Transgressive Performativity of Black Vulnerability as Praxis in Everyday Life explores the undoing of whiteness by black people, who dissociate from scripts of black criminality through radical performative reiterations of black vulnerability. It studies five novels that challenge the embodied discursive practices of whiteness in interracial social encounters, showing how they use strategic performances of Blackness to enable subversive practices in everyday life, which is constructed and governed by white mechanisms of racialized control. The agency portrayed in these novels opens up alternative spaces of Blackness to impact the social world and effects transformative change as a forceful critique of everyday life. African American Novels in the Black Lives Matter Era shows how these novels reformulate the problem of black vulnerability as a constitutive source of the right to life in their refusal of subjection to vulnerability, enacted by white institutional and individual forms of violence. It positions a white-black-encounter-oriented reading of these “neo-resistance novels” of the Black Lives Matter era as a critique of everyday life in an effort to explore spaces of radical performativity of blackness to make happen social change and transformation.

Today more than ever literature and the other arts make use of urban structures – it is in the city that the global and universal joins the local and individual. Babylon or New Jerusalem? Perceptions of the City in Literature draws a map of the concept of the city in literature and represents the major issues involved. Contributions to the volume revisit cities such as the London of Wordsworth, Dorothy Richardson and Virginia Woolf or Rilke’s Paris, but also travel to the politics of power in Renaissance theatre at Ferrara and to deliberate urban erasures in post-apartheid South Africa. The texts represented range from Renaissance plays to contemporary novels and to poetry from various periods, with references to the visual arts, including film. The role of memory in contemplating the city and also specific urban metaphors developed in literature, such as boxing – the square ring – and jazz are also discussed. The transformation of cities by legislation on cemeteries, by lighting or by projects of urban renewal are the subject of articles, while others reflect on images of the city in worlds specifically forged by writers like William Blake and James Thomson.
