My name is Mary A. Gardner. I am the younger of two daughters. I was born in 1954 in Alexandria, Virginia, to John and Christine Gardner. I have five sons; Obbie Jr., John Marcus, Corey, Christian, and Michael; one grandson, DeShawn; and three granddaughters Jada, Cora-Ann, Tori & my unborn grandson (due in May), as well as all future grandchildren. I attended three years of college at Suffolk Community College. I am the owner of a small business named Gardner Poetry Enterprises. I have written for movie stars. My clientele has included movie stars Mehki Phifer (from the movies Impostor, Head Games, Shaft, Soul Food, Clockers, MTVs Hip-Hopera ,Carmen, etc.) and Malinda Williams (from Soul Food the weekly series, The Wood, Sunset Park, High School High, Thin Line Between Love & Hate, Moesha episodes, etc.). I love poetry and the spoken word. I have always wanted to have books of my own works published so others could read them.

Dwayne Redmond was born in Greenwood, a small town in Mississippi. Though he always enjoyed writing poetry, he never took it seriously until his oldest sister, Thelma, sent him an article about a poetry contest given by the National Library of Poetry. He entered it, and his first poem, "May," was published in the early 1990s. He also had his own successful television show in 1994 called "Poetry in Motion," which promoted poetry, anti-drug messages, and black history. After publishing four more poems, he decided to write his own book, which he feels has been a blessing to publish.

I was born in Saginaw Michigan and attended Saginaw public schools. At 18, I moved to Houston Texas where I lived for about 30 years, during which I worked for a major airline. God spoke to my heart and I moved to Roanoke Virginia for about 6 years then back to Saginaw where I work as a Certified Nursing Assistant. I married my wonderful husband Charles L. Ford Jr. a lifelong friend. I am happier than I have ever been to God be the glory.
