Wanting to understand how her path is tied to her mother tongue, Anne, a young, multiracial American woman, travels through China, the country of her mother’s birth. Along the way, she tries on different roles—seeker, teacher, student, girlfriend, artist, and daughter—and continually asks herself: Why do I feel called to make this journey? Whether witnessing a Tibetan sky burial, teaching English at a university in Chengdu, visiting her grandmother in LA, or falling in love with a Chinese painter, Anne is always in pursuit of intimacy with others, even as she is all too aware of her silences and separation. For two years, she settles into a comfortable routine in her boyfriend’s apartment and regains fluency in Chinese, a language she spoke as a young child but has used less and less as an adult. Eventually, however, her desire to know herself in other ways surfaces again. She misses speaking English, she feels suffocated by urban, polluted China, and she starts to fall for another man. Ultimately, Anne realizes that to live her truth as a mixed-race, bilingual woman she must embrace all of her influences and layers. In a world that often wants us to choose a side or fit an ideal, she learns that she can both belong and not belong wherever she is, and that home is ultimately found within.

A Change Of Heart written by Clemmie A. Scott, Jr and has been published by FriesenPress this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-02-19 with Religion categories.

A Change of Heart: Understanding the Kingdom of God by Clemmie A. Scott, Jr. is a piece of Christian non-fiction literature for anyone—new or life-time believer—looking to deepen their relationship with God. Focusing on the heart as the metaphorical connection between men and women and their Creator, the book makes use of multiple points of scripture to argue for the condition of the heart with and without Christ. The book is broken down into five parts: The precondition of the heart and its connection to inherited sin, the transformation of the heart when dedicated to God, the role of the Holy Spirit in transforming the heart, understanding the kingdom of God with a transformed heart, and the role of the heart in transforming marriages. As Scott summarizes, “The heart, the seat of human intention, desire, and belief, must be understood, transformed, and renewed in community in order to allow one entrance and full participation in the Kingdom of God. “ A Change of Heart is uplifting, approachable, and encourages a positive relationship with God.

A Braided Cord written by Jim Warren and has been published by FriesenPress this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-02 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

This book describes life long learning expressed often as allegory or metaphor, but derived from life long events. The braided cord reflects the union of body, mind and soul, but because I am a surgeon, the body is topmost in my mind and my book. My exploration of flesh, and the rest, derives from 40 years of surgery and anatomy. All of us are in nature and of nature and there are no natural borders that divide us. To see nature and ourselves as through a prism leads us to the perception that we are broken up from ourselves and nature in the spectrum and we create borders that are artificial. We owe it to ourselves to embrace the Universal so we can arrive at the point that we realize we and nature are one white light. When we do, the ordinary becomes extraordinary, and a sense of unity will follow. I can't think how, in the past, I could have been so dumb. This book is both playful and intense but like nature, despite its diversity always returns, to a single theme.

New digital technologies are changing the way organizations are designed and work is done. Companies that have seized this opportunity are finding that they can speed up innovation, enhance collaboration across boundaries, and enable greater commitment and creativity. This totally new approach for digitally-enabled collaboration doesn’t stop at the edge of an organization’s boundary but extends beyond it in space and time. We refer to these new ways of organizing as “braids” - an intertwined network of contributors with different capabilities, not controlled or managed by a formal hierarchy, who work together to invent ways to accomplish a common purpose in line with organization’s mission and strategy. Braids allow significant advantages over traditional, hierarchical, mechanistic and bounded ways of organizing. These include access to knowledge and capabilities that are key to achieving breakthrough levels of performance; improved coordination among individuals and groups performing interdependent tasks; increased organizational agility; enhanced knowledge-processing as experts contribute more directly to the most important technical and strategic decisions; and greater motivation, as people team together to leverage their capabilities to innovate and accelerate performance. Learning from the trailblazing experimentation of companies like Airbus, Procter & Gamble, Red Hat, and Dassault Systèmes, this book outlines how to approach designing braided organizations for a variety of purposes, such as enhancing open innovation or enabling greater supply chain adaptability in order to respond to changing customer demands. In the past, human limitations have restricted the ways we organize companies for growth. Today, there’s no excuse for allowing the organizational chart as it’s currently drawn to constrain possibilities for improved performance and innovation.
