This volume, Futurism and the Technological Imagination, results from a conference of the International Society for the Study of European Ideas in Helsinki. It contains a number of re-written conference contributions as well as several specially commissioned essays that address various aspects of the Futurists’ relationship to technology both on an ideological level and with regard to their artistic languages. In the early twentieth century, many art movements vied with each other to overhaul the aesthetic and ideological foundations of arts and literature and to make them suitable vehicles of expression in the new Era of the Machine. Some of the most remarkable examples came from the Futurist movement, founded in 1909 by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti. Brescia è nota in tutta Italia per essere una provincia la cui economia è basata sull'industria e, in specifico, sulla meccanica. Tale fama (motivata) sarebbe impensabile senza la presenza di un'importante e storica Scuola che da oltre un secolo e mezzo ha formato i quadri intermedi e la classe dirigenti di tali settori: la Scuola (poi Istituto) Tecnica Moretto. Le origini della scuola risalgono addirittura al 1830, quando venne aperto un corso d'arte per gli operai che rapidamente si orientò verso l'arte applicata all'artigianato. Da tale radici crebbe una scuola sempre più indirizzato verso il disegno geometrico e la meccanica in genere che, grazie alla presenza di docenti all'avanguardia, rese la Scuola all'avanguardia e contribuì alla crescita soprattutto delle diverse industrie metallurgiche e armiere.Il volume "Dal Moretto all'Itis" ricostruisce l'avventurosa storia della scuola e delle sue diverse sedi dalle origini Ottocentesche, attraverso le vicissitudini belliche, fino al 1965 quando l'Istituto Tecnico Moretto fece nascere l'I.T.I.S. Castelli che tuttora è frequentata da oltre 2000 alunni ed è corredato da oltre 250 fotografie, in larghissima parte inedite provenienti da archivi locali e da quelli della Scuola. Il volume fa parte di una serie che a breve si arricchirà con un volume dedicato all'Istituto Tecnico Agrario Pastori di Brescia.

Il risultato è puro Gaber: intelligenza, ironia, e una profondità che appena rischia di diventare pesantezza ha uno scarto, un guizzo, e ritorna meravigliosamente leggera. G. è quanto di più vero e definitivo si potesse scrivere su Giorgio Gaber. Sandro Luporini riesce nel miracolo di restituirci quello stile, quel gusto, quel modo di vedere le cose che ci ha tanto affascinato, e di cui tanto sentivamo la mancanza.
