The easy way to understand atheism and secular philosophy for people seeking a nonreligious philosophy of life, as well as believers with atheist friends, A Brief Anatomy of Atheism for Beginners offers an intelligent exploration of the historical and moral case for atheism. Often wildly misunderstood, atheism is a secular approach to life-based on the understanding that reality is an arrangement of physical matter, with no consideration of unverifiable spiritual forces. A Brief Anatomy of Atheism for Beginners offers a brief history of atheist philosophy and its evolution, explores it as a historical and cultural movement, covers important historical writings on the subject, and discusses the nature of ethics and morality in the absence of religion. A simple, yet intelligent exploration of an often misunderstood philosophy explores the differences between explicit and implicit atheism. A comprehensive, readable, and thoroughly unbiased resource. As the number of atheists worldwide continues to grow, this book offers a broad understanding of the subject for those exploring atheism as an approach to living.

Atheism: A Beginner's Handbook is a basic introduction to why atheists think and act the way they do. In particular, what factors drive their unbelief, and why is the phrase "atheist morality" not an oxymoron. Recent surveys have shown atheists to be the least trusted group in the nation, despite the fact that atheists espouse the use of reason in determining acceptance of claims. So why is reason so distrusted, and how did the atheist come to be seen in a negative light? Until these questions are addressed, the U.S. will remain a highly polarized nation along both cultural and political lines. This we cannot afford, nor can we afford closing the popular mind to what atheism is about. This book makes a major effort toward casting much needed light on atheist thinking, and how the position of unbelief in a God or gods is arrived at on the basis of diligently applying scientific principles and reason. The book is not about "converting" anyone toward an atheist mindset. Instead, it is more about shining a light onto the basis for atheist thought and logic. For the novice, a blueprint is provided for living authentically in a religious culture.

Discover .... Atheism is very easy to define: it is the belief that there is neither God nor the gods. From now we will just talk about belief in God, but the arguments in this book are equally applicable to the monotheistic and polytheistic religions. However, many think that atheists believe that there is no God, no morality; or that there is no God, nor the meaning of life; or again, neither God nor human goodness. As we shall see, there is nothing to stop the atheist believe in morality, the meaning of life or human goodness. Atheism is only the truly negative when it comes to believing in God. It is capable of positively look at other aspects of life as well as any other belief. However, there is a certain point where the negativism of atheistic beliefs extends beyond God's existence. Atheist rejection of faith in God is usually accompanied by a broader rejection of any supernatural or transcendent reality. An atheist, for instance, usually doesn't believe in the existence of the immortal soul, life after death, ghosts and supernatural forces. Although, strictly speaking, an atheist can believe in any of that, and yet remain an atheist, reasons which will become clearer later on, arguments and ideas that support atheism naturally tend to exclude beliefs in the supernatural and fantastic. Atheism is the view contrary not only to theism and other forms of belief in God but also to agnosticism - i.e. the exclusion of belief or disbelief in God. Agnostic argues that we cannot know whether God exists or does not exist, and is, therefore, the only reasonable solution to refrain from judgment. Both theists and atheists, according to agnostic beliefs, are exaggerating in claims that God exists / does not exist. We simply do not have enough arguments or evidence to justify any of these positions. The question whether people with no positive faith in God should be agnostics or atheists is really important, probably as much as the question whether to believe in God or not. The Beginner's Guide to Atheism is a sometimes serious, sometimes witty (and sarcastic) look at religion and why people should avoid superstitious beliefs whenever possible. This book is a highly opinionated assault on all things supernatural and a real take-down of deities and demons alike. It covers logic, reason, belief, knowledge, dogma and even apologetics in a way that guarantees you'll not only understand it, you'll also never forget what you just read. Remember: Nothing is sacred.
