Two Centuries of Valor is the first fully comprehensive historical account of the 5th United States Infantry Regiment. It chronicles the one hundred ninety-nine years of active service of the regiment as it fought in most of its nation's wars from the War of 1812 to the War on Terror, and during its many years of peacetime service from the Minnesota wilderness to the Sinai Peninsula. The information was derived from earlier regimental histories, monthly command and after-action reports, award citations, archived newspaper accounts, biographical sources and correspondence with dozens of living veterans from World War II to men who are currently on active duty. It is a story of courage, sacrifice, and missions accomplished.

Courage And Valor Above And Beyond written by Edwin C. Tingstrom and has been published by Xlibris Corporation this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-05-02 with History categories.

Ed Tingstrom is passionate for history which has led to considerable study of U.S. history with emphases on military history. However he has detected inconsistencies in the recording of historical events which led mim to ask questions. He would research and ferret out the answers by utilizing the National Archives, Library of Congress and other institutions to provide the answers he sought. History has always been and will always be my passion. My quest is to share this passion with the younger generations in hopes of igniting a similar spark in them. History lives in all of us; all we have to do is seek the truth and remember. Mr. Tingstrom is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He enjoys giving lectures in history and military service at local high schools and colleges, as well as serving as a docent at the VFW museum, which houses a collection of vintage poster art and war memorabilia dating back to the turn of the twenth century. This is his first book This book is dedicated to my wife Deirdre Whose constant encouragement and love provided me with the strength and conviction to continue. To Professor Ransford Hopkins, Professor of History, Moorpark College, California, who lit the spark, which turned into a roaring fire to write this book, and to seek out history were ever it is found and share it with others.

The Fall Of Valor Valancourt 20th Century Classics written by Charles Jackson and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-07-26 with categories.

Charles Jackson (1903-1968) achieved international success with his first book, The Lost Weekend (1944), a groundbreaking novel about alcoholism that sold more than 600,000 copies and was adapted for an Academy Award-winning film version. Jackson followed this triumph with a novel that was even more daring, The Fall of Valor (1946), arguably the first major American novel to deal openly with the theme of homosexuality. The Fall of Valor is an unflinching portrayal of a marriage that has faded to a mere duty. John and Ethel Grandin take a summer vacation to Nantucket with the hope of recapturing the happiness they felt in the early days of their relationship. But instead the holiday blasts their marriage wider apart than ever when John falls hopelessly in love with a handsome marine captain. This edition features a new introduction by Michael Bronski, who argues that Jackson's novel deserves rediscovery and a place alongside later classics such as Gore Vidal's The City and the Pillar, Norman Mailer's The Naked and the Dead, and the works of James Baldwin. "A finer and more skilful work than [The Lost Weekend] ... a milestone in our literary progress." - Saturday Review "A courageous, ruthlessly probing book." - Thomas Mann "One of the best books I've ever read." - Book Week
