Excerpt from A Chapter in the Integral Calculus The present pamphlet is intended to be used by mathematical students as supplementary to an ordinary treatise on the Integral Calculus. A method of Integration is proposed which makes this opera tion, always of a tentative nature, more systematic and certain; and in this method the hyperbolic functions are used freely in conjunction with the circular trigonometrical functions. Path Integrals In Quantum Mechanics Statistics Polymer Physics And Financial Markets written by Hagen Kleinert and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009 with Science categories.

This is the fifth, expanded edition of the comprehensive textbook published in 1990 on the theory and applications of path integrals. It is the first book to explicitly solve path integrals of a wide variety of nontrivial quantum-mechanical systems, in particular the hydrogen atom. The solutions have been made possible by two major advances. The first is a new euclidean path integral formula which increases the restricted range of applicability of Feynman's time-sliced formula to include singular attractive 1/r- and 1/r2-potentials. The second is a new nonholonomic mapping principle carrying physical laws in flat spacetime to spacetimes with curvature and torsion, which leads to time-sliced path integrals that are manifestly invariant under coordinate transformations. In addition to the time-sliced definition, the author gives a perturbative, coordinate-independent definition of path integrals, which makes them invariant under coordinate transformations. A consistent implementation of this property leads to an extension of the theory of generalized functions by defining uniquely products of distributions. The powerful FeynmanKleinert variational approach is explained and developed systematically into a variational perturbation theory which, in contrast to ordinary perturbation theory, produces convergent results. The convergence is uniform from weak to strong couplings, opening a way to precise evaluations of analytically unsolvable path integrals in the strong-coupling regime where they describe critical phenomena. Tunneling processes are treated in detail, with applications to the lifetimes of supercurrents, the stability of metastable thermodynamic phases, and thelarge-order behavior of perturbation expansions. A variational treatment extends the range of validity to small barriers. A corresponding extension of the large-order perturbation theory now also applies to small orders. Special attention is devoted to path integrals with topological restrictions needed to understand the statistical properties of elementary particles and the entanglement phenomena in polymer physics and biophysics. The ChernSimons theory of particles with fractional statistics (anyons) is introduced and applied to explain the fractional quantum Hall effect. The relevance of path integrals to financial markets is discussed, and improvements of the famous BlackScholes formula for option prices are developed which account for the fact, recently experienced in the world markets, that large fluctuations occur much more frequently than in Gaussian distributions.

Differential And Riemannian Geometry written by Detlef Laugwitz and has been published by Academic Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-05-12 with Mathematics categories.

Differential and Riemannian Geometry focuses on the methodologies, calculations, applications, and approaches involved in differential and Riemannian geometry. The book first offers information on local differential geometry of space curves and surfaces and tensor calculus and Riemannian geometry. Discussions focus on tensor algebra and analysis, concept of a differentiable manifold, geometry of a space with affine connection, intrinsic geometry of surfaces, curvature of surfaces, and surfaces and curves on surfaces. The manuscript then examines further development and applications of Riemannian geometry and selections from differential geometry in the large, including curves and surfaces in the large, spaces of constant curvature and non-Euclidean geometry, Riemannian spaces and analytical dynamics, and metric differential geometry and characterizations of Riemannian geometry. The publication elaborates on prerequisite theorems of analysis, as well as the existence and uniqueness theorem for ordinary first-order differential equations and systems of equations and integrability theory for systems of first-order partial differential equations. The book is a valuable reference for researchers interested in differential and Riemannian geometry.

Classical Mechanics written by R. N. TIWARI and has been published by PHI Learning Pvt. Ltd. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-02-05 with Science categories.

Intended as a text for postgraduate students of mathematics, this compact and well-organized book offers insights into the principles of classical mechanics and, in particular, deals with the problems of dynamical systems. Divided into seven chapters, the text begins with a discussion on some elementary results of statics and dynamics. It then goes on to analyze at length the Hamiltonian formulation along with the Poisson bracket, the variational principle (taking Euler’s equation of calculus of variation as the base), and different forms of the variational principle. Finally, the text explains the integral invariants, canonical transformations, and the Hamilton–Jacobi theory. KEY FEATURES • A fairly large number of worked-out examples are interspersed throughout the text to illustrate the application of the concepts to the problems discussed. • Miscellaneous Exercises are given at the end of the book to drill the students in self-study. • The text entirely covers UGC model curriculum for M.Sc. (Mathematics).

Classical Analysis On Normed Spaces written by Tsoy-Wo Ma and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995 with Mathematics categories.

This book provides an elementary introduction to the classical analysis on normed spaces, paying special attention to nonlinear topics such as fixed points, calculus and ordinary differential equations. It is aimed at beginners who want to get through the basic material as soon as possible and then move on to do their own research immediately. It assumes only general knowledge in finite-dimensional linear algebra, simple calculus and elementary complex analysis. Since the treatment is self-contained with sufficient details, even an undergraduate with mathematical maturity should have no problem working through it alone. Various chapters can be integrated into parts of a Master degree program by course work organized by any regional university. Restricted to finite-dimensional spaces rather than normed spaces, selected chapters can be used for a course in advanced calculus. Engineers and physicists may find this book a handy reference in classical analysis.

Mathematical analysis offers a solid basis for many achievements in applied mathematics and discrete mathematics. This new textbook is focused on differential and integral calculus, and includes a wealth of useful and relevant examples, exercises, and results enlightening the reader to the power of mathematical tools. The intended audience consists of advanced undergraduates studying mathematics or computer science. The author provides excursions from the standard topics to modern and exciting topics, to illustrate the fact that even first or second year students can understand certain research problems. The text has been divided into ten chapters and covers topics on sets and numbers, linear spaces and metric spaces, sequences and series of numbers and of functions, limits and continuity, differential and integral calculus of functions of one or several variables, constants (mainly pi) and algorithms for finding them, the W - Z method of summation, estimates of algorithms and of certain combinatorial problems. Many challenging exercises accompany the text. Most of them have been used to prepare for different mathematical competitions during the past few years. In this respect, the author has maintained a healthy balance of theory and exercises.
