Apesar de leis e de campanhas que protegem e valorizam a figura feminina, não chegamos à igualdade de gênero. Infelizmente, em alguns lugares ainda existem aqueles que enxergam a mulher apenas como um objeto de satisfação sexual. O que tem sido amplamente rebuscado é valorizar o “sexo frágil”, dando às mulheres o mesmo direito que os homens. Quem nunca se deparou com uma cena de preconceito de gênero? É comum que em muitos lugares do Brasil existam mulheres que, assim como a personagem Maria deste livro, sofram com o preconceito, sendo diariamente agredidas verbalmente e fisicamente.
