The late Julius Kambarage Nyerere was nicknamed 'Musa' (Moses) during the later, post-independence years for leading his people from slavery and guiding them toward a free land of prosperity - the Promised Land. The Tanzanian odyssey chronicled in this book, which first appeared ten years ago as Tanzanians to the Promised Land, has been updated with new research. The author- also an engineer and a journalist- offers an enlightened and unbiased discussion of the journey and both sides of the contributions - successes and failures - made by former presidents and their systems of administration: the late Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere, Alhajj Ali H. Mwinyi, and Mr. Benjamin W. Mkapa. Tanzanians' hopes and expectations of the incumbent president, H.E. Mr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, are also discussed. It is not intended as a political campaign of any kind, for any party or any individual. Several years ago, the spaceship Genesis was sent out on Earth's first mission to other solar systems to seek out the possibility of life, and even intelligent life on other worlds. That mission did indeed find life to be abundant in the heavens, and the Genesis ship found itself in a great expanse of space with no heavenly bodies. They turned back, fearing they might be headed for a black hole. When I returned to Earth, the scientists were very puzzled. The scientists could not believe the presence of a void in that sector of space. The spaceship Gemini was built and launched to find an answer to that question. The Gemini did in fact prove the existence of that black void but then returned to Earth with many more questions than answers. Perhaps you may have an answer. This book effectively becomes a sequel to The Genesis Mission. Certain ideas put forth in Genesis left things unanswered. This book attempts to cover the possibilities that scientists would want answers to questions which arose in The Genesis Mission.

In1975, Lazslo Toth, a US citizen and then director of technical research at the Great Western Sugar Company in Colorado, was visiting his native country of Yugoslavia to work on its continuing technical cooperation with other European nations. As part of this effort, he had agreed to provide photographs of a Yugoslav sugar plant.
