Afinal, quem são os sneakerheads? Quais são as práticas associadas ao fenômeno da cultura sneaker no Brasil? Esta obra tem como objetivo esclarecer essas e outras dúvidas sobre o consumo do item de vestuário que se tornou símbolo de uma cultura urbana no final dos anos 80 – os tênis. Para a construção do objeto da presente pesquisa, como ele pode ser percebido no contexto do consumo contemporâneo e para apoiar os questionamentos levantados ao longo da obra, foram utilizadas as lentes da Consumer Culture Theory, em especial a Teoria da Prática. Os resultados mostraram duas dimensões da cultura dos sneakers: o consumo de histórias e o consumo dos tênis em si, ligados a compromissos de prática com ênfase simbólica e material, respectivamente.

A publicação focaliza as características e as particularidades da produção cinematográfica do Rio Grande do Sul a partir do desempenho dos longas-metragens realizados na região, finalizados entre 1997 e 2007, no circuito exibidor nacional. Analisa também a trajetória de consolidação do cinema dos Estados Unidos no século XX, que conquistou posição hegemônica no mercado mundial, impactando cinematografias de diversas nacionalidades, sobretudo na América Latina. Assim, dimensiona essa força dominante do cinema estrangeiro no percurso do cinema brasileiro, principalmente na produção realizada no RS, expondo os desafios e os obstáculos à concretização de uma indústria audiovisual no Estado. A pesquisa é fruto da dissertação de mestrado da autora, que aborda as principais transformações no audiovisual nas últimas décadas, capitaneadas pelo cinema norte-americano, localizadas no cenário da sociedade da informação e do processo de globalização.
