Even as humanity reels beneath the assault of AIDS, epidemiologists are gearing themselves up for the plague's successor. It might be dengue fever, whose carrier, the Asian tiger mosquito, has recently appeared in the United States, or Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, which has been transmitted by contaminated human growth hormone. The next pandemic might be caused by any of a dozen viruses that were once confined to other species or territories but now place human beings at risk as we increasingly cross their boundaries. Updated to include the latest research and developments, this fascinating and sometimes unsetting book sums up all that we currently know about viruses: what they are, how they spread, and how scientists are trying to outwit them. Interweaving theory and real-life medical drama, A Dancing Matrix is science reportage at its most suspenseful and informative.

Tango The Structure Of The Dance written by Mauricio Castro and has been published by Independently Published this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-11-16 with categories.

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Mauricio Castro is the founder of Tango Discovery and [is] a renowned dancer and teacher of Argentine Tango. He created and developed a personal style of dancing and teaching tango in Buenos Aires and then, through Tango Discovery, he brought it to the rest of the world. To his solid musical education at the prestigious Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA), he added contemporary dance and movement technique studies (Laban Analysis, Bartenieff Fundamentals, and The Skinner Releasing Technique, among others). In addition, he also studied Human Sciences in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Design Human Engineering, and Human Ecology. The joining of these disciplines and influences allowed him to create his particular and unmistakable style, systematizing it into an innovative method to accelerate the process of learning to dance. Breaking out from rigid sequences, his focus is to develop improvisation skills through a simple and dynamic technique where students discover not only a relaxed and released style but also a new way of expressing and communicating with their bodies. The synthesis of his method, recognized worldwide by hundreds of dancers, used to be available not only by attending his classes but also in his books and (back then - we are talking the year 2000) cutting-edge multimedia CD-ROMs. They used to be available in several languages. From the beginning, Castro insists that the tango is and should be for anyone, as it is something so pleasurable and common like breathing. "Repeating random exercises won't get you anywhere. The proof is that there are people out there, that have been trying to dance tango for years and they still can't, they still believe that is a difficult dance. I have found a NEW way of teaching and learning far better to whatever you have been doing." - Mauricio Castro This book must be taken as a sort of beginning and inspiration to generate movement. It must be used to awaken and increase our curiosity in relation to dance, producing new possibilities of movement and, therefore, new forms to express ourselves and enjoy our bodies. This material can be used for doing exactly the opposite, too. That is why it is everyone's responsibility for paying attention to how you are practicing.

Warren Buffett famously invoked the metaphor of a tapeworm when describing what healthcare is to the American economy. The United States spends approximately 20% of its gross national product on healthcare, but it is unclear where the money goes or who is minding the store. This healthcare crisis is mostly about money--not lack of money, but rather misspending of money. From the perspective of a healthcare auditor and provider, this work describes the problems of American healthcare finance and proposes solutions. Extensive charts and graphs are used to trace where money goes in the American healthcare system, while other topics such as ethics in healthcare billing, un-auditable hospital costs and scams are discussed. There is evidence that clearly identifies where the money goes, and its destination may surprise the reader.

Art And Spiritual Transformation written by Finley Eversole and has been published by Simon and Schuster this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-05-26 with Art categories.

The primal role of art in awakening and liberating the soul of humanity • Presents a seven-stage journey of transformation moving from the darkened soul to the light of spiritual illumination • Provides a meditation practice to experience the spiritual energy embedded within art • Includes artists Alex Grey, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Walter Gaudnek, and others Art and Spiritual Transformation presents a seven-stage journey from the darkened soul to the light of spiritual illumination that is possible through the world of art. Finley Eversole introduces a meditation practice that moves beyond the visual content of an art form in order to connect with its embedded spiritual energy, allowing the viewer to tap in to the deeper consciousness inherent in the artwork and awaken dormant powers in the depths of the viewer’s soul. Examining modern and postmodern artwork from 1945 onward, Eversole reveals the influences of ancient Egypt, India, China, and alchemy on this art. He draws extensively on philosophy, myth and symbolism, literature, and metaphysics to explain the seven stages of spiritual death and rebirth of the soul possible through art: the experience of self-loss, the journey into the underworld, the experience of the dark night of the soul, the conflict with and triumph over evil, the awakening of new life in the depths of being, and the return and reintegration of consciousness on a higher plane of being, resulting finally in ecstasy, transfiguration, illumination, and liberation. To illustrate these stages, Eversole includes works by abstract expressionists Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, and Mark Rothko and modern visionary artists Alex Grey and Ernst Fuchs, among others, to reveal the powerful and liberating forces art contributes to the transformation and evolution of human consciousness.

Education Modernity And Fractured Meaning written by Donald W. Oliver and has been published by State University of New York Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1989-07-18 with Education categories.

An indictment of the ideology of modernity, which has resulted in our leading incoherent and fragmented lives, Oliver and Gershman's book explores the profound paradigmatic differences that exist among the world's people and describes a rich theory of knowing and being, commonly called "process philosophy." The promise of process philosophy is in its potential to allow us to participate more fully in the flow of all of time and nature. But what does it mean for a teacher and student in the learning situation to have a process point of view? The authors also discuss many of the various implications in regard to language, space, power relationships, and time as they place process philosophy in the educational context.
