This is the first series to comprehensively address leading qualitative research designs and methods from a nursing perspective, and is a must-have for every research library. These are practical, how-to guides to conducting research using seven different qualitative designs that encompass new and traditional methodologies. Written by Dr. Mary de Chesnay, a noted qualitative research scholar, and contributing specialists in each of the qualitative methods, each of the seven books discusses the theoretical rationale for using a particular design, describes its components, and delineates a practical plan to conduct studies. Utilizing a practical, problem-solving approach, the books delineate appropriate methods, ethical considerations, critical issues, and potential pitfalls. Examples of published qualitative nursing research worldwide, along with author commentary, support the new researcher in making decisions and facing challenges. Case studies follow a template that includes a description of the study, data collection and analysis, and dissemination. Also included are techniques whereby researchers can ensure high standards of rigor, and an extensive bibliography and list of resources. The bookís practical point of view is geared to help novice researchers and specialists alike develop or expand their competencies, engage graduate faculty and students, and aid nursing research staff in larger hospitals and other healthcare institutions, as well as in-service educators and students. Key Features of this One-of-a-Kind Resource Library: Focuses on practical problem solving Reviews the philosophical basis for each qualitative design Disseminates the most current references in each design Provides a plan to conduct studies using the design and discusses appropriate methods, ethical considerations, and potential challenges Showcases the research of international scholars Is peer reviewed by design and method experts

Literary Studies And Human Flourishing written by James F. English and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023 with Literary Criticism categories.
The Humanities and Human Flourishing series publishes edited volumes that explore the role of human flourishing in the central disciplines of the humanities, and whether and how the humanities can increase human happiness. The contributors to this volume of essays investigate the question: what do literary scholars contribute to social scientific research on human happiness and flourishing? Of all humanities disciplines, none is more resistant to the program of positive psychology or the prevailing discourse of human flourishing than literary studies. The approach taken in this volume of essays is neither to gloss over that antagonism nor to launch a series of blasts against positive psychology and the happiness industry. Rather, the contributors reflect on how their literary research--work to which they are personally committed--might become part of an interdisciplinary conversation about human flourishing. The contributors' areas of research are wide ranging, covering literary aesthetics, book history, digital humanities, and reader reception, as well as the important "inter-disciplines" of gender and sexuality studies, disability studies, and black studies-fields in which issues of stigma and exclusion are paramount, and which have critiqued the discourse of human flourishing for its failure to grapple with structural inequality and human difference. Literary scholars are drawn more readily to the problematic than to the decidable, but by dwelling on the trouble spots in a field of inquiry still largely confined to the sciences, Literary Studies and Human Flourishing provides the groundwork for new and more productive forms of interdisciplinary collaboration and exchange.

Published in partnership with the International Association of School Librarianship, this work gathers together the latest and most important research on the topics of social justice and cultural competency in school libraries. Education systems today are expected to advance national goals related to fairness, equity, and social cohesion. Comprising articles written and collected in the journal of the International Association of School Librarianship and new articles written especially for this anthology, this book documents both empirical research and promising practices to help school librarians and teachers work together to promote social justice and develop learners' and educators' cultural competence. Both coeditors are experienced in working with authors from around the world and have participated in the development of effective and ethical standards and guidelines for school library practitioners. Brief real-life case studies of school librarians and teachers in action showcase efforts to improve the lives of marginalized or under-served students. School librarians inside and outside of the United States, school library educators and policymakers, and academic librarians building school librarianship collections will find this guide valuable.
