A harrowing chronicle by two leading historians, capturing in real time the events of a year marked by multiple devastations. When we look back at the year 2020, how can we describe what really happened? In A Deeper Sickness, award-winning historians Margaret Peacock and Erik Peterson set out to preserve what they call the “focused confusion,” and to probe deeper into what they consider the Four Pandemics that converged around the 12 astonishing months of 2020: • Disease • Disinformation • Poverty • Violence Drs. Peacock and Peterson use their interdisciplinary expertise to extend their analysis beyond the viral science, and instead into the social, political, and historical dimensions of this crisis. They consulted with dozens of experts and witnesses from a wide range of fields—from leading epidemiologists and health care workers to leaders of the Black Lives Matter movement, district attorneys, political scientists, philosophers, and more. Their journey revealed a sick country that believed it was well, a violent nation that believed it was peaceful; one that mistook poverty for prosperity and accountability for rebellion. Organized into the journal-entries along with dozens of archival images, A Deeper Sickness will help readers sift through the chaos and misinformation that characterized those frantic days. It is both an unflinching indictment of a nation that is still reeling and a testament to the power of human resilience and collective memory. Readers can share their story and become a contributing author by visiting an interactive digital museum, where the authors have preserved dozens of more stories and interviews. Long before the Lele people of Papua New Guinea had significant contact with the Western world and Christianity, they had developed a framework for understanding sickness and healing with a strong emphasis on the unseen world. This study examines how mature Lele Christians of the Evangelical Church of Manus assess traditional health concepts in light of their Christian faith and Scripture. By using cognitive theory as an interpretive approach, this research serves as a case study to illustrate the mental processes that take place when Christians in an animistic context make sense of their traditional culture. Simon Herrmann spent 15 years in Papua New Guinea, the United States and Malaysia. He now works as a lecturer in Intercultural Theology at the Internationale Hochschule Liebenzell (IHL).

With the Council of the Silent Grove disbanded and allies lost to shadow, Bennar must navigate a landscape teetering on the edge of chaos. Through fierce battles, betrayal, and haunting memories of comrades lost, Bennar's journey takes him from the dark heart of the Stone Library to the treacherous Hollowroots, facing trials that test his resolve. As the lines between friend and foe blur, he discovers that the greatest enemy may not lie beyond the gates, but within the very foundation of the world itself. Bound by an unbreakable oath, Bennar must make impossible choices to protect a realm that seems destined to fall. Will his blade that severs shadows be enough, or will the darkness consume them all?

When our Lord's disciples came to Him regarding prayer, they did not ask Him to teach them how to pray, but rather they asked Him to teach them to pray. Obviously even those closest to Christ needed to learn to pray. And so do we. Here, some of our best Bible teachers and expositors give us instruction on prayer, from why we should pray, to what prayer is, how it ties in with God's sovereignty, what it means to pray in Jesus' name, what it means to hallow God's name, and why God is to be the focus of our prayers, not ourselves. These, and many other topics, are addressed in this helpful book.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) poses a significant global health challenge, with an estimated 50 million people affected worldwide and no known cure. Traditional methods of diagnosis and prediction often rely on subjective assessments. They are limited in detecting the disease early, leading to delayed intervention and poorer patient outcomes. Additionally, the complexity of AD, with its multifactorial etiology and diverse clinical manifestations, requires a multidisciplinary approach for effective management. AI-Driven Alzheimer's Disease Detection and Prediction offers a groundbreaking solution by leveraging advanced artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to enhance early diagnosis and prediction of AD. This edited book provides a comprehensive overview of state-of-the-art research, methodologies, and applications at the intersection of AI and AD detection. By bridging the gap between traditional diagnostic methods and cutting-edge technology, this book facilitates knowledge exchange, fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, and contributes to innovative solutions for AD management.
