He was born in the city of Pachuca in the state of Hidalgo, Mexico. He completed his basic and intermediary studies in the same city. Subsequently, he graduated as an oiling engineer from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He practices this profession for 20 years, of which the last 15 he spends working in the maritime platforms of PEMEX, located in the Gulf of Mexico, in the south east part of the country. During his off time, he lives in the state of Jalisco with his wife. The narrative of this book is the succinct of a painful fight, through the course of 20 years of the life of the author, who faced severe depression. However, he is able to analyze, identify, and control the thoughts coupled to his suffering, thanks to the support that the philosophy of Plato offers, and not without the adequate prescription medication. In such way he exposes, classifies and reveals the thoughts that propitiate the obsessive ideas, in order to finally explain how it is possible to suppress them. It does not pretend to reach the precision of the syllogisms, nor the universal truth of what is exposed without having to submit it through scientific scrutiny; first, verifying it with the number of sufficient cases, and confronting it with others that are enunciated and observations that fail to dismiss it, or confirm its certainty.

Dialogues with the Abyss is a series of talks with what most people consider the unfathomable: Death, Time, Love, Tyranny, Suicide, The Holocaust and many more. On ancient maps these were the unexplored places often described as Beyond Here There be Dragons. Scott Mulhern has entered into dialogues with these persons, places, conditions and things that are thought of as unthinkable in order to understand how they see themselves. Who are we, what are we, where are we, why are we and what are we to do to face reality as the human race inches ever closer to an abyss which it must confront in order to survive. These dialogues provide a rare opportunity for the reader to enter the consciousness of its subjects as they speak both eloquently and terrifyingly about who or what they are and how they view their relationships with the human race....

In Practicing Psychotherapy in Constructed Reality: Ritual, Charisma, and Enhanced Client Outcomes, Stephen Bacon charts a radical and provocative new direction forward for psychotherapy. Based on the research finding that techniques have no inherent power, and the insights of constructionism, Bacon explores new ways of understanding therapeutic rituals, therapist charisma, and client-centered therapy. Special emphasis is given to an analysis of the work of master therapists, and all of the concepts are illustrated with numerous clinical examples. Finally, Bacon develops a geography of constructed reality which pragmatically supports deliberate practice and therapist mindfulness.

Veering written by Nicholas Royle and has been published by Edinburgh University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-10-12 with Literary Criticism categories.

Reflections on the figure of veering form the basis for a new theory of literature. Exploring images of swerving, loss of control, digressing and deviating, Veering provides new critical perspectives on all major literary genres: the novel, poetry, drama, the short story and the essay, as well as 'creative writing'. Royle works with insights from Lewis Carroll, Freud, Adorno, Raymond Williams, Edward Said, Deleuze, Cixous and Derrida. With wit and irony he investigates 'veering' in the writings of Jonson, Milton, Dryden, Wordsworth, Coleridge, Melville, Hardy, Proust, Lawrence, Bowen, J.H. Prynne and many others. Contrary to a widespread sense that literature has become increasingly irrelevant to our culture and everyday life, Royle brilliantly traces a strange but compelling 'literary turn'.

Literature And The Metaphoric Universe In The Mind written by Nicolae Babuts and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-07-05 with Literary Criticism categories.

Nicolae Babuts believes that the study of metaphoric thought and literature can be enriched by the application of recent discoveries from neuroscientific c experiments. He maintains that metaphors are neither linguistic formations nor conceptual formations, but instead the product of association of images and language. They are a matter of vision.Memory is an essential component in the creation of meaning and is the way the mind receives messages from the outside world. In this process of transferring data from the outside world, the mind's overriding tendency is to integrate and interpret. Thus, incoming messages are recognized and given meaning whether they are in harmony with the inner world of the mind or in confl ict with it.Babuts argues that the literature we read is related to our perception of reality. And reality has two identities: the physical identity of the outside world and its symbolic identity within memory. The symbolic identity of the outside world is represented internally by the metaphoric universe in the mind.
