Neste livro, apresentamos uma pesquisa de avaliação do valor esportivo do fair play, na qual podemos refletir sobre a importância de educar e não de instruir em valores. As tendências de pesquisas sobre fair play apontam para a necessidade de investigações locais com vistas a um melhor entendimento desse valor na prática do jogo. Nesse sentido, parece importante que as investigações confrontem a prática do fair play com seus padrões teóricos estabelecidos. O objetivo deste estudo foi de comparar o comportamento normatizado, por padrões teóricos do fair play, com o comportamento efetivo, observado na prática do jogo, entre jovens escolares. Para o professor e o profissional que trabalha com esportes pode ser uma leitura que ajude a pensar em como lidar melhor com a educação em valores de crianças e jovens.

Em termos gerais, o estudo carateriza a presença dos imigrantes e descendentes de imigrantes dos PALOP no ensino superior e procura compreender a interação dos múltiplos processos, nas diferentes esferas da vida do jovem, que terão produzido a sua trajetória até esse nível de ensino. Aborda, deste modo, a questão da diversificação e reconfiguração social e étnico-nacional dos públicos do ensino superior. O estudo está organizado em 4 blocos principais: i) o primeiro centra a análise nos processos de produção de trajetórias escolares de sucesso escolar que poderão desembocar no acesso ao ensino superior, fazendo uma revisão da literatura disponível; ii) um segundo procede ao levantamento e análise das políticas públicas de enquadramento e integração dos imigrantes na sociedade portuguesa e em particular no sistema educativo; iii) no terceiro, traça-se o retrato extensivo dos jovens de origem africana no sistema educativo português, numa análise diacrónica que compreende os últimos 20 anos; iv) no último, dá-se conta da análise dos depoimentos recolhidos nas entrevistas biográficas realizadas aos jovens, da qual resultou a identificação de 4 percursos diferenciados no acesso ao ensino superior.
