What a privilege it is for God's people to have the complete canon of Holy Scripture! In Deuteronomy 11:18-21 we observe the unchanging intention of God for his people to grow in their knowledge of him through the family setting. Faithfulness as a family to grow in the Scripture was connected, in Deuteronomy 11:21, to the outcome of the family enjoying the promises of God given in the Mosaic covenant. God's precepts, commands, and promises are a blessing to be enjoyed by his redeemed people in Christ, especially in the family setting. This book aims at being a guide for families to use in their daily family worship of God from the word. If God's word is the means that God has ordained to call his people to Christ and change them increasingly into the image of Christ, then imagine the joy that awaits families if we were more intentional with the word--more intentional to daily read the word, memorize the word, grow in the doctrines of the word, and sing together the truths of the word. Why not take a family journey through doctrine and find in the word the Triune God who alone saves and satisfies?

We trace one family, generation by generation, throughout the one thousand years of the second millennium. The trilogy sets the family within its social environment, describing its migration from the continent, and across England, Scotland, and Ireland to settle in the New World. From that we get a vivid picture of what affected, motivated, worried, and encouraged this Saxon family and how they coped. Since the migration of this family was typical for the time, this study is relevant to millions of people in the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States, whose ancestors followed the same general migratory path. Book I specifically covers the feudal period in the Middle Ages (1000 – 1560), where a feudal autocrat and an avaricious pope, between them, owned and controlled everything. Throughout, the family became our witnesses to many of the historic events of the feudal period: the Battle of Hastings, Anglo-Saxon resistance, the plague, the Little Ice Age, the Great Starvation, Guilds, the building of great cathedrals and castles, and the gradual decline in the king’s power and control. In 1067 William the Conqueror appointed Honfroi de Insula de L’lle as the Dominus of the area around the feudal village of Combe, Wiltshire. He permitted Honfroi to live and build a motte and bailey castle there to assist in keeping the peace. The front image is Castle Combe as it appears today.

The book begins with classical representation theory of finite groups over complex numbers and ends with results on representation theory of quivers. The text includes in particular infinite-dimensional unitary representations for abelian groups, Heisenberg groups and SL(2), and representation theory of finite-dimensional algebras. The last chapter is devoted to some applications of quivers, including Harish-Chandra modules for SL(2). Ample examples are provided and some are revisited with a different approach when new methods are introduced, leading to deeper results. Exercises are spread throughout each chapter. Prerequisites include an advanced course in linear algebra that covers Jordan normal forms and tensor products as well as basic results on groups and rings.

“I forgot!” How many of us have heard those words from our own mouths after we failed to remember something important? God’s people, both in the Old Testament and his redeemed today, are guilty of forgetting what matters most in the busyness of daily life. Is it any wonder that in the Law of God, the Torah, three festivals a year were to be attended by all Jewish males to reflect on God’s grace, goodness, and revealed truth? In Deuteronomy 6:9–12, the people were to put God’s word on their doorposts so that they would not forget his commands and acts of deliverance when they settled in the promise land. In the New Testament, Jesus institutes two ordinances (baptism and the Lord’s Supper) for the church to practice in order to remember and reverently celebrate what he accomplished on their behalf. Throughout Holy Scripture, God calls his forgetful people to reflect on and remember his past works, so they may see his everlasting glory. Taking a journey through Holy Week in the Gospel of Matthew is another opportunity to reflect on the person and work of the Lord Jesus. Holy Week begins on the first Sunday before Resurrection Sunday (Easter) and reflects on the events of Jesus’ last days leading up to his crucifixion and resurrection. This journey through Holy Week is meant to remind us of the person and work of Jesus so that our affections will be stirred and our mouths will praise him to the glory of God the Father.
