"Held by God ... like a feather which ... lets itself be carried by the wind." So wrote the medieval mystic Hildegard of Bingen. In 'Feathers on the Wind', Father Ed Hays provides a mystical manual of flying lessons for all those feather folk who desire to be carried aloft by the Wind of Heaven. To float like a feather requires freedom not so much from Earth's gravity as from grave attitudes about life's problems. Each of these reflections is brief--especially designed for those short of time--but they all promise a day's worth of insight on how to live in reality and in the uplifting providence of God's Spirit. You say that you're not a mystic or a saint? Don't worry! besides, learning how to worry less is at the heart of these lighthearted meditations that will free you as they ground you in the wisdom of the Spirit. A Feather In The Wind is based on travels I've never experienced and places I've not seen. The story is but a figment of my imagination. It is about one of five children who come from a wealthy Southern family. She is the neglected child who has had everything money can buy, but feels neglected, mainly because of the loss of her mother, but also because of the lack of attention of her father, who travels extensively and seems to devote his attention to everything and everyone but her

This book is a human and Australian story written in four distinct parts and tied together with the thread of the author’s life. It speaks for migrants who are driven by upheavals and rapid change, youth, adventure, and a desire to succeed; it is for those who arrive with hope and the countries that give them the chance of a better life. The essence is in the characters and the places, and the power is in the interaction of multiple disciplines. It tells of invention, of research and development, and of a device that saved lives, spared thousands the pain and suffering of major operations, and funded facilities and teaching. The feelings of the author are expressed in anecdotes with emotion, stark reality, tragedies, humor, failures, and achievement. Starting with Kenya and safaris in East Africa, the story moves on to migration, Australian culture in the sixties, and then medicine and invention in surgery. It involves peoples with multiple skills in different settings. Perceptions of training of surgeons have fired public curiosity, and this story is from the inside of medical school and ultimately about what makes a surgeon. The twentieth century saw unrivaled changes in technology, politics, and human relations; the collapse of the British Empire; and the dispersal of its colonials. This is the story of a colonial boy who was one of many who traveled like feathers on the wind of change that blew across Africa. The author was honored with the Award Officer of Australia (AO) for leading a team in research and development in vascular and endovascular surgery. The story is for the unsung diverse group of special individuals who made it possible. They convinced establishments, hurdled passionate special interest groups, negotiated institutional politics, and precipitated government actions to address new concepts.

A Feather in the Wind: Poetry for the Mind, Body, Spirt and Soul is a collection of poems to stimulate the mind, open the heart, and make the soul sing. A Feather in the Wind is presented in six sections: Peace and Harmony, The Source, Nature, Interconnectedness, On Waking Up, and Dancing. Relocating to the rural south and the solitary lifestyle that transition affords, being surrounded by nature, listening to the sounds of birds in the morning, taking fresh vegetables from the garden, and taking long drives to teach in nearby cities were opportunities for reflection. Over time, Ms. Turner-Fortes recollections of meeting many different people and engaging in diverse conversations became a catalog of words, thoughts, and phrases. A Feather in the Wind is partly the result of those contemplations, giving voice to observations through the literary style of poetry.

She was very controlling and demanding. Sonia was a very special, gifted child and that made her mother very jealous. It was either her way or the highway. Her Mother would not let her go out nor have friends. She wanted her to clean the house all the time. It was like she had a maid who didn't get paid. Work and no play. Sonia wanted to run away so bad. She could feel it in her bones but she didn't want to hurt her father so she crawled into her world of poetry and imagination to escape from the evil queen's grasp. That kept her from going insane. She loved both her parents dearly considering they were the only ones she knew. Many nights she would cry herself to sleep to say the least, but she knew someone was watching over her Sonia was a gentle creature with a heart of gold. She tried to please her mother, but nothing made her happy except making her life a living hell and everyone else's. Let the games begin. Sonia learned to play the game quite well Now on the other hand her father was a beautiful man inside and out. He had a heart of gold unlike his wife who had a black heart. He loved to fly his airplane and he helped Sonia grow in the mind, spirit and body. Her father was her heart, soul and protector from evil forces. It is complicated you have to read her story to understand what is taking place. Being adopted was the furthest thing from her mind until she started having dreams to go and find her biological mother which was an adventure in itself. She set out to do her detective work. They told her she was born in Italy but nothing matches up. There are many Lies and deceptions. She went on a wild journey and search to try and find her identity. Her message to everyone is to never give up and follow your heart and dreams.

A philosophical picture book from one of China's most celebrated children's authors and 2016 Hans Christian Andersen Award-winner Cao Wenxuan. A feather is blown across the sky, meeting various birds along the way, and asking each one, "Do I belong to you?". Cao Wenxuan tells the story of a single feather who is swept away on a journey of discovery and belonging. Encountering a variety of birds, from a kingfisher to a magpie, Feather is hopeful of meeting the bird she belongs to. Again and again, she is dismissed or ignored. Only when she sees that there is also beauty in being close to the earth does fate offer a reunion... Feather is sure to charm young children with a plot at once compelling, meditative, and quietly moving. Roger Mello’s stunningly beautiful, dynamic illustrations will delight readers of all ages.
