This book is a guide for understanding climate change. It takes an interdisciplinary approach because climate change is simultaneously a matter of science, engineering, economics, politics, culture, ethics, and more. A Field Guide to Climate Change thus follows the contours of climate change as it appears in the world—as a tangle of problems. Briggle presents climate literacy as a form of problem-posing by offering a set of tools for understanding how problems get framed, debated, and resolved. Through developing climate literacy, students gain the ability to think critically about how facts are constructed and mobilized in the pursuit of values.

Field Guide To Atmospheric Optics written by Larry C. Andrews and has been published by SPIE-International Society for Optical Engineering this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019 with Meteorological optics categories.

"The material in this Field Guide includes a review of classical Kolmogorov turbulence theory, Gaussian-beam waves in free space, and atmospheric effects on a propagating optical wave. These atmospheric effects have great importance in a variety of applications like imaging, free space optical communications, laser radar, and remote sensing. This Field Guide presents tractable mathematical models from which the practitioner can readily determine beam spreading, beam wander, spatial coherence radius (Fried's parameter), angle of arrival fluctuations, scintillation, aperture averaging effects, fade probabilities, bit error-rates, and enhanced backscatter effects, among others. There have been a number of new model developments in atmospheric propagation of a laser beam since the first edition of this Field Guide to Atmospheric Optics, many of which are included in this second edition. The subject of Atmospheric Optics is more extensive than that presented here. For example, most treatments of the subject matter concentrate heavily on the scattering and absorption by the molecular gases, particulates, and aerosols in the atmosphere. This usually also includes a detailed analysis of the wind, temperature, and pressure, particularly as a function of altitude. Another area of concentration in many treatments of the subject takes into account meteorological optics, which is a fascinating area all of its own. The subject of optical phenomena is often presented in great detail covering rainbows, halos, mirages, red sunsets, and so on"--

Face it. Climate change has happened. It’s no longer a future threat. We’re living with it today. Let’s just accept that and move forward. We have to survive an expanding range of weather extremes, an ever growing list of natural disasters, a steady drip of pandemic-prone viruses, and the economic impacts of skyrocketing energy and food costs. The environment is filled with new challenges but we can survive; even prosper. Climate is a big issue and it’s easy to get lost in all the jargon and abbreviations. Where do you even begin to address something this complex? Even if we don’t let it overwhelm us emotionally, it’s far too easy to spend all our time and money digging out of the last disaster instead of preparing for the next. There are clear, easy steps we can take to prepare for climate change; both the climate change that’s already here and the climate changes coming down the road. The first step is to break this big, complex problem down into manageable sections; each with a group of small, clear actions that are easily taken and, together, help us secure our health and safety, save money, and position us for a safe and prosperous future. The old adage, caveat emptor (buyers beware), applies to climate change as much as it does to used cars, and it’s our responsibility to beware of green-washing and to make personal choices that assure the health, safety and welfare of ourselves, our communities, our children and future generations. This Field Guide will help.
