The battle of Gettysburg was a turning point in the Civil War, if not the turning point, not because the Federal Army of the Potomac won the battle, but because it simply did not lose; because General Robert E. Lee, commander of the famous Confederate Army of Northern Virginia, did not win. Make no mistake about it, Lee went north into Pennsylvania to destroy President Lincoln's main army of operations, the Army of the Potomac, and then swing south to surround Washington, D.C., the Federal capital, hoping it would lead to a negotiated settlement that finally recognized Southern independence from the United States. In this, Lee came close. I have created a historically accurate yet fictitious character around John Tricker, an actual member of the famous 114th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment (Collis's Philadelphia Zouaves) to help tell a small but significant part of the story of this fateful campaign. The Philadelphia Zouaves, along with several other Federal regiments, held the very center of the Union line at Gettysburg on July 2, 1863, at a place that we now famously call "The Peach Orchard." Although John Tricker and his brother, Alfred, were actual members of Company B, 114th Pennsylvania, I know little to nothing about them. I don't think anyone today does. I have simply combined my historical knowledge with my own combat experiences in Fallujah, Iraq, as an Iraqi Army advisor from 2005-06, to try to bring the desperate fight for the Peach Orchard Salient more to life for the average reader by using Sergeant John Tricker as a vehicle. I hope you enjoy the book and are inspired to read more about the Gettysburg Campaign and the Civil War in general.

It is a learning lesson for all political leaders of the World to see and learn how a villainous person can make fool the countrymen by having a Dress of half-naked FAKIR (in the words of Winston Churchill) with his ethics of “Non-Violence” bringing division, destruction, slaughter in millions and then the mankind with “Non-Violence” when United Nations Secretary commented a person is a man of peace of mankind.

Swami Nityatmananda lived in the company of Sri M. for a long time, maintained a diary and elaborated it in sixteen parts of Sri Ma Darshan. The book is also available in English under the title ‘M., the Apostle & the Evangelist.’ All the sixteen parts are available in Bengali too. It is a continuation of the Kathamrita. This work is the result of twenty years of hard and incessant work and tapasya, on the banks of the Ganga in Rishikesh, in the Himalayas. In this series of 16 volumes the reader is brought in close touch with the life and teachings of Sri Ramakrishna family: Thakur, Swamiji, Holy Mother, M., Swami Shivananda, Swami Abhedananda and others. And there is the elucidation according to Sri Ramakrishna’s line of thought, of the Upanishads, the Gita, the Bible, Guru Granth Sahib, the Holy Quran and other scriptures. The third specialty of this work is the commentary on the Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna by the author himself. Says Swami Shraddhananda, “One wonders at the unusual capacity of Swami Nityatmananda in recording these day to day conversations of this Vyasadeva of our time – M. – and later developing his notes into his masterly work. One cannot fail to discover the special training he received from Sri M. himself in this direction while he was serving as a teacher in M.’s school and living with him for years.” When he read it, Swami Jagadananda remarked, “The author has presented M.’s words lifelike. After reading his Kathamrita, a study of this book will throw new light on the Kathamrita. There is no doubt about it.” The great American and senior sadhu, Swami Atulananda, wrote, “This book may serve a double purpose. To those who are acquainted with M.’s Kathamrita, it may be welcome as a companion volume, and to those not yet acquainted with the Kathamrita, it may arouse a desire to make that acquaintance. For this book, which is a record of M.’s talks with his admirers about his reminiscences, not only reveals new facts about the life of Sri Ramakrishna, but throws new light on that wonderful life.” Swami Virajananda, the late President of Sri Ramakrishna Math and Mission, heard the manuscript read to him by his Secretary when he visited Dehradun for the last time, and he was delighted to hear it. He told to the author, “What a wonderful thing you have written! Why didn’t you show it to me earlier? Never mind, now go and finish the writing. Human life is so uncertain. If you complete the writing itself, publication can be taken up by others… Ah! The move is as dramatic as the subject is sublime…’

A biography of the man who served as head of the Nazi Party Chancellery, Hitler’s personal secretary, and the monster who decided the fate of millions. Born on June 17, 1900, Martin Ludwig Bormann became one of the most powerful and most feared men in the Third Reich. An obsessive bureaucrat, it was Bormann who helped steer Hitler’s apparatus of terror so effectively that he became the clandestine ruler of Nazi Germany. After joining the Nazi Party in 1927 Bormann rose through its ranks. Indeed, by July 1933 Bormann had maneuvered himself into the position where he became the Chief of Cabinet in the Office of the Deputy Führer, Rudolf Hess. In this role Bormann gradually consolidated his power base, so that when Hess carried out his infamous flight to the United Kingdom in 1941, Bormann stepped into his shoes. As the head of the Party Chancellery, Bormann took control of the Nazi Party. By the end of 1942, he was Hitler’s deputy and his closest collaborator. With the Führer increasingly preoccupied with military matters, Hitler came to rely more and more on Bormann to handle Germany’s domestic affairs. On 12 April 1943, Bormann was appointed Personal Secretary to the Führer. Feared by ministers, Gauleiters, civil servants, judges and generals alike, Bormann identified strongly with Hitler’s ideas on racial politics, destruction of the Jews, and forced labor, and made himself indispensable as the Führer’s executioner. Cold as ice, he decided the fate of millions of people. In January 1945, with the Third Reich collapsing, Bormann returned to the Führerbunker with Hitler. Following Hitler’s suicide on 30 April, Bormann was named as Party Minister, thus officially confirming his rise to the top of the Party. Late the following day he fled from the bunker to escape the encircling Red Army; his fate remaining a mystery for many years. In October 1946 he was found guilty in absentia by the International Military Tribunal at Nuremberg and sentenced to death. Drawing heavily on recently declassified documents and files, the historian and journalist Volker Koop reveals the full story of the most faithful member of Hitler’s inner circle, an individual who, whilst little known to the German people, became the second most powerful man in the Third Reich. Praise for Martin Bormann: Hitler’s Executioner “An unbelievable monster, but people still need to know about him and what he did, here fulfilled by Volker Koop, who simply doesn't hold back.” —Books Monthly (UK)

Dare To Dream written by Annette M. Brown and has been published by WestBow Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-02-16 with Religion categories.

The book looks into the lives of the Bible characters Ruth, Naomi (her mother-in-law), and Boaz (Ruth’s future husband), as they overcome challenging situations and struggle not to allow their hidden hopes and dreams to die without trying to achieve them. The characters purposefully searched for conditions of hope in things they saw, heard about, or perceived to have potential of being beneficial and by accepting wise advice and kindness from other people. The book is encouraging for anyone struggling with situations in life that leave them feeling discouraged and forces them to search for conditions of hope and ways to make their hopes and dreams come true by becoming proactive and working on a plan of action. Their story is also about relationships, in the natural and spiritual sense, as demonstrated by the connection between them and a kinsman-redeemer who serves to make another person’s life restored and complete. As one reads through the book, he or she gains a sense that more than simply human effort was at work, but it was the hand of God orchestrating every detailed move, and as a result, each character realized and accredited it all to God as being their kinsman-redeemer. Although Boaz assisted in helping Ruth’s family overcome challenges, it was leading them to find a relationship with the true kinsman-redeemer, Jesus the Messiah. So the questions for the reader are: What is preventing you to Dare to Dream? Why not search for conditions of hope in your situation and make every attempt to fulfill them, because without trying, your hopes and dreams will die? Everyone has hopes and dreams that they hold in their minds and keep silently to themselves. Therefore, when people apply themselves, it becomes possible to move forward to experience at least four types of dreams, such as addressed in the chapters: “Shattered Dreams,” “Working the Dream,” “Rebirth of a Dream,” and “Fulfilled Dreams.”
