His Holiness the Dalai Lama is one of the most respect leaders living today. Wherever he travels, he cuts across religious, national and political barriers and reaches the hearts of human beings. He truly cares for people everywhere, and everything he does is for the sake of achieving peace on this planet. What he says in A Human Approach to World Peace is not complicated or even unusual. In fact, it is almost radical in its simplicity. He feels that science and technology are indeed remarkable but alone are not enough to bring progress and contentment. We are all members of the same human family, and unless we develop a sense of universal responsibility and learn to see each other as brothers and sisters, there can never be world peace. And, above all, His Holiness urges world leaders to meet in this way. ‘We need a revolution,’ he says ‘in our commitment to humanitarian values.’

(A) For the most part, World Peace has been a subject matter of G7 Countries and, typically the United Nation has been the key negotiator in resolving international conflicts The “New Approach to World Peace” identifies the two hurdles, that human beings have, to overcome to attain global peace so that every person can enjoy and move freely on this Earth. The first hurdle, is purely political, that is far too many people live in countries where citizens are not allowed to think free because, governments are too authoritarian, as in China, or like in Russia where Democracy has been high jacked or because of the flawed constitution as in India. The second hurdle is that, societies are so bound by their religion that free-thinking or human development is NOT easy. In both cases, citizens have limitations in contributing towards World Peace. The Elements of World Peace that is, Republicanism and Neosecularism explained in this book, answers both these issues. The book also elaborates on how and why we should, launch a campaign for World Peace. (B) Elements of World Peace -Constitutional Doctrine of Separation of Powers. -People are Free, the Government have restrictions. The government must make laws by representation only. - Citizens have powers to change the Government when representation fails. -Constitution must guarantee human rights including minority rights. -Supranational Body gives additional power to citizens of Member States to protect individual rights. -Society practices Secularism

World Peace written by Alex J. Bellamy and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-09-12 with Political Science categories.

For as long as there has been war, there have been demands for its elimination. The quest for world peace has excited and eluded political leaders, philosophers, religious elders, activists, and artists for millennia. With war on the rise once again, we rarely reflect on what world peace might look like; much less on how it might be achieved. World Peace aims to change all that and show that world peace is possible. Because the motives, rationales, and impulses that give rise to war - the quest for survival, enrichment, solidarity, and glory - are now better satisfied through peaceful means, war is an increasingly anachronistic practice, more likely to impoverish and harm us humans than satisfy and protect us. This book shows that we already have many of the institutions and practices needed to make peace possible and sets out an agenda for building world peace. In the immediate term, it shows how steps to strengthen compliance with international law, improve collective action such as international peacekeeping and peacebuilding, better regulate the flow of arms, and hold individuals legally accountable for acts of aggression or atrocity crimes can make our world more peaceful. It also shows how in the long term, building strong and legitimate states that protect the rights and secure the livelihoods of their people, gender equal societies, and protecting the right of individuals to opt-out of wars has the potential to establish and sustain world peace. But it will only happen, if individuals organize to make it happen.

Peace In The Age Of Chaos written by Steve Killelea and has been published by Hardie Grant Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-10-07 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

While COVID-19 is reshaping our lives, this must-read book for 2021 provides some of the answers to our most pressing global challenges. Unless the world is basically peaceful, we will never get the trust, cooperation and inclusiveness to solve these issues, yet what creates peace is poorly understood. Working on an aid program in one of the most violent places in the world, North East Kivu in the DR Congo, philanthropist and business leader Steve Killelea asked himself, ‘What are the most peaceful nations?’ Unable to find an answer, he created the world’s leading measure of peace, the Global Peace Index, which receives over 16 billion media impressions annually and has become the definitive go to index for heads of state. Steve Killelea then went on to establish world-renowned think tank, the Institute for Economics and Peace. Today its work is used by organisations such as the World Bank, United Nations and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and taught in thousands of university courses around the world. Peace in the Age of Chaos tells of Steve’s personal journey to measure and understand peace. It explores the practical application of his work, which is gathering momentum at a rapid pace. In this time when we are faced with environmental, social and economic challenges, this book shows us a way forward where Positive Peace, described as creating the optimal environment for human potential to flourish, can lead to a paradigm shift in the ways societies can be managed, making them more resilient and better capable of adapting to their changing environments.

Peace written by Oliver P. Richmond and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-02-23 with Political Science categories.

Very Short Introductions: Brilliant, Sharp, Inspiring The concept of peace has always attracted radical thought, action, and practices. It has been taken to mean merely an absence of overt violence or war, but in the contemporary era it is often used interchangeably with 'peacemaking', 'peacebuilding', 'conflict resolution', and 'statebuilding'. The modern concept of peace has therefore broadened from the mere absence of violence to something much more complicated. In this Very Short Introduction, Oliver Richmond explores the evolution of peace in practice and in theory, exploring our modern assumptions about peace and the various different interpretations of its applications. This second edition has been theoretically and empirically updated and introduces a new framework to understand the overall evolution of the international peace architecture. ABOUT THE SERIES: The Very Short Introductions series from Oxford University Press contains hundreds of titles in almost every subject area. These pocket-sized books are the perfect way to get ahead in a new subject quickly. Our expert authors combine facts, analysis, perspective, new ideas, and enthusiasm to make interesting and challenging topics highly readable.
