My name is Margaret Trimm Bachus. For 25 years I worked as a writer, producer and director, creating professional plays for young audiences. Sixteen original productions toured to 3 million children and families throughout the Eastern United States and Canada. In 2007 my sisters and I lost our mother to Alzheimers disease. Helplessly we watched as this Awful disease took her memories, her dignity, and finally her life. To deal with our loss, we explored possibilities through which we could support families and victims of Alzheimers disease. The Sisters Trimm became our working moniker. We continue our involvement in the war against Alzheimers disease, and are especially proud of our Save the Story Creations. This is a creative process in which families or caregivers engage their loved one in simple guided memory conversations as Alzheimers disease wages its battle for control. Specially designed questionnaires, created by us, are returned to us and translated into "story symbols" - charms, jewels tiny collectibles, permanently affixed to a story vessel. The Save the Story vessels are beautiful, tactile pieces of art that aid in storytelling and recall. When it is time to say goodbye, these creations save the life story for generations to come. When I co-wrote a play called Vaudeville Jazz in 1982, I had never heard of Alzheimers disease. I just knew I had a story I wanted to tell. Vaudeville Jazz explored cross-generational love between a grandpa and his granddaughter as the grandpas memory began to fail. The play toured to thousands of children and educators. The Florida Endowment for the Humanities underwrote a statewide tour to Senior Citizen Centers where Vaudeville Jazz was followed by discussion. I could never have imagined how closely this story would parallel my own familys experience 25 years later. Revisiting the Vaudeville Jazz script after we lost our mother, The Sisters Trimm, determined that the story should be re-told in book form so it could be available to children and families everywhere. We renamed the story, A is for Awful, to better reflect the enemy we now know as Alzheimers disease.

“Em’s Awful Good Fortune takes its reader across the world and deep into the heart of its trapped, privileged, suffering, and, ultimately, invincible narrator.” —Junot Diaz, Pulitzer Prize–winning author of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao Set against the backdrop of the expat lifestyle, Em’s Awful Good Fortune is about marriage—love and family, work and compromise, betrayal and heartbreak, resentment and resolution. Weaving back and forth in time and between cities and countries, Em’s booming voice—fierce, funny, and relatable—is the engine that drives this story. Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Detroit, Los Angeles and Seoul—Em stomps her way around the world on the personal journey to reimagine and reclaim her voice. True to life, this is a disorderly journey—one that ultimately leads to a new understanding of partnership and the complexity of relationships. Everybody Is Awful written by Jim Florentine and has been published by Hachette UK this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-02-20 with Humor categories.

A rant-ish memoir by the veteran stand-up comedian and former cohost of That Metal Show, with a foreword by Jim Norton. Twitter Trolls. Facebook Freaks. Instagram Exhibitionists. These are just a few of the creatures our technology-obsessed culture has spawned in its quest to simplify our lives. The madness is so universal now that everyone has dealt with it. You log in to Facebook, read a stupid post, and immediately want to tell your "friend" to go have relations with himself. Sure, social media may keep us connected, but it is a breeding ground for idiots, and these idiots have crowd-sourced a storm of useless information, corny jokes, and douchebag drama that's wasting our time and screwing with our peace of mind. Thankfully, popular comedian and television host Jim Florentine has a solution for those of us on the verge of bashing our iPhones to bits. In Everybody Is Awful, Florentine attacks awful people and awful situations with the same biting satire and cringe-worthy humor that made him famous on television shows like Crank Yankers, Meet the Creeps, and That Metal Show. Along the way, Everybody Is Awful takes readers through the author's formative years, a time filled with rebellion and horrible behavior, to the crazy early days of his career as a stand-up comedian. Florentine also recounts how he developed an obsession with pranks that morphed into his uniquely vigilante style of comedy and made him one of the most legendary prank callers of all time. Florentine excels at channeling the core rage we all feel at the seemingly small annoyances of life, and his fans love the cathartic experience of his hilarious ranting and raving, a tradition continued in Everybody Is Awful. Acting as a de facto therapist, Florentine diagnoses awful behavior, shames awful people, and offers comedic takes on how to reclaim our lives from it all.
