Acaricides Resistance In Ticks written by Sachin Kumar and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-02-25 with Medical categories.

This book discusses the significance of the chemical acaricides resistance in ticks as a global problem. Resistance is the ability of a tick population to survive and reproduce in the presence of a pesticide that would otherwise be lethal. This resistance threatens the efficacy of a range of acaricides used to control tick populations and consequently, has a negative impact on the effectiveness of various pest management strategies. This resistance is caused by the selection of resistant tick genotypes and enhanced metabolic detoxification. To address this problem the book explores an integrated approach that is needed to identify and manage tick populations that are resistant to acaricides, as well as identify and develop novel acaricides that are effective against resistant tick species populations. It describes the complex issues associated with this phenomenon using cutting edge advancement in Bioinformatics and Bioinformation Discovery. The chapters provide current information pertaining to the types of protein-protein complexes (homodimers, heterodimers, multimer complexes) in context with various specific and sensitive biological functions. The significance of such complex formation in human biology in the light of molecular evolution is also highlighted using several examples. The book serves as a valuable resource for students, academicians and researchers studying about tick resistance.

Isolated regions of the world are often at the forefront of emerging diseases and, to be effective in disease prevention and control, they require basic resources for field sample collection and testing in conditions vastly different from those available in well-equipped reference laboratories. Technical support for field extension staff, and the availability of reliable diagnostic testing facilities, are also vital to ensure sustainable livelihoods for subsistence farmers. This technical handbook aims to provide an easy to follow overview of the basic laboratory techniques, and sample collection guidelines, that we consider useful for staff working in district veterinary facilities in regions that lack the infrastructural support available for staff with ready access to national veterinary laboratories. The Veterinary Laboratory and Field Manual 3rd Edition provides the reader with a summary of basic diagnostic procedures and sample submission guidelines and also advocates for improved communication between animal health extension staff, veterinarians, laboratory staff and farmers. Case studies are used to illustrate key concepts. Basic laboratory disciplines are covered including parasitology, microbiology, haematology, serology / immunology and pathology. There are also sections on laboratory infrastructure and equipment. There is additional content on common clinical presentations, One Health approaches to Antimicrobial resistance, the role of the OIE, disease surveillance and wildlife disease monitoring. Supplementary tools for use in the field and laboratory are also available online. This new edition of The Veterinary Laboratory and Field Manual is updated to include content on pen side tests, selection and integration of new technologies, engagement with international agencies and programs, and the One Health approach to disease monitoring. Animal Health extension staff in isolated regions of the world, and NGOs, can benefit from this book as well as policy makers supporting veterinary work in rural areas and veterinary para-professionals involved in One Health work. 5m Books

Please note that to be considered for this collection, the first author or at least one corresponding author should be a researcher who identifies as a woman. After the well-received 2022 collection, Frontiers in Microbiology is proud to host this Research Topic celebrating women’s work and achievements in the field of Microorganisms in Vertebrate Digestive Systems. Alongside International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month 2023, we will collectively embrace equity in the microbiology community. There is continued gender disparity within core STEM subjects. According to UNESCO Institute for Statistics, just 33% of the world's researchers are women. While the number of women attending university is growing, they still represent the minority of doctoral students and researchers. Women remain under-represented in the highest level of academia, holding just 26% of full professorships. This is even more skewed in industry with just 3% of STEM industry CEOs being women. As highlighted by UNESCO, science and gender equality are essential to ensure sustainable development. This Research Topic will act as a platform to promote the work of female researchers across the entire breadth of Microorganisms in Vertebrate Digestive Systems, including: • Diversity and abundance of mutualistic, commensal, and pathogenic microorganisms in the vertebrate digestive tract; • Dynamics of microbial communities in relation to age, diet, and catastrophic events (injuries and interventions such as fecal transplants); • Biological, chemical, and physical stressors including the effects of probiotics on microbiome composition and dynamics; • Gastrointestinal microbiome composition and its relationship with the host immune system and health. This Research Topic is open for submissions including Original Research, Reviews, Mini Reviews, Methods, Opinion and Perspective articles. All manuscripts will be handled by female editors. Any articles focused on research metrics and gender perspectives or bias in scientific publications would be best suited in Frontiers in Research Metrics and Analytics journal.

Security sensitive microbes (viruses, bacteria, fungi, and parasites) and toxins, which are often referred to as the select agents and toxins, have the capacity to cause serious illness and death in humans, animals, and plants. This book is an authoritative and comprehensive review of security sensitive microbes (viruses, bacteria, fungi, and parasites) and toxins, with an emphasis on the state of the art in the field. Written by experts in the field, the chapters present authoritative reviews, each one covering a single microbe or toxin with respect to its classification, biology, epidemiology, pathogenesis, identification, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. The chapters also discuss the limitations of our current knowledge and challenges relating to improved detection and control of the microbe or toxin.
