A Little Salvation written by Judson Mitcham and has been published by University of Georgia Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007 with Poetry categories.

This new collection from acclaimed novelist and poet Judson Mitcham features poems from the last twenty-five years, including forty new works and poems from his previously published collections, Somewhere in Ecclesiastes (1991) and This April Day (2003). Wise, witty, and deceptively plainspoken, Mitcham’s poems show how the moments that truly save us--that make us human--are necessarily the most fleeting. It is up to us, he reminds us, to create meaning from those moments, and in doing so to create our own salvation. The transitory nature of human experience is both the boon and the bane of the existence of the speakers in these poems, and every poem seems to recognize its own temporality, trying to find meaning rather than a definitive answer to the questions it raises. The tone of these poems combines a strong sense of humor with a pervasive feeling of loss, both celebrating and mourning that “a true note is still so hard to hit.” These voices revel in the human condition even as they are often saddened by it. While Mitcham’s background and settings are distinctly southern, his interests extend far beyond the regional. He intimately understands the problems and the people of the South but recognizes that these are, above all, human problems and human beings. His poems evoke Flannery O’Connor, Otis Redding, the Bible, and the Baptist Church, but they also respond to Walt Whitman, Wallace Stevens, and the death of Jacques Derrida.

Engage and energize young readers with a fresh take on the Gospel story of Jesus. Charmingly illustrated and very accessible, The Simple Little Salvation Story takes readers on a journey to help them easily understand God's loving plan of salvation. And it helps parents answer lots of difficult questions along the way -- like why did Jesus have to die for our sins? And what are sins, anyway? The Simple Little Salvation Story isn't just a retelling of Bible stories with colorful pictures and short sentences. In fact it doesn't even start with Adam and Eve. It starts with robots. Yes, robots. Then it moves into skateboarding and helping senior citizens across the street. And then it introduces what sin is and God's amazing plan to wash us clean of it so we can live with Him forever. So add some of Jesus' dramatic story to your story time. Or give it to a child or grandchild on a special religious occasion or holiday. It will help explain – in an engaging way with beautiful illustrations from noted artist Shirley Chiang – what all this Christian salvation stuff is about, anyway. Praise for The Simple Little Salvation Story: “The analogy of the robots had me hooked immediately. I've taught Religion for over 40 years and I would read this to my students in a heartbeat!” — Pam Ferguson, Holy Family Catholic School, St. Petersburg, FL“The Simple Little Salvation Story captures the essence of the most profound theological truths and communicates them in a way that is simple and understandable to our children. Get this book. Read it, but most of all read it aloud and make sure someone else is listening!” —Dr. Willy Rice, Senior Pastor, Calvary Baptist Church, Clearwater, FL(60 pages; ages 5+)

Once Saved Always Saved written by David Pawson and has been published by Anchor this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-07-30 with Religion categories.

The majority Evangelical view is that once someone has accepted Christ as Saviour they are guaranteed salvation. But is it safe to assume that once we are saved, we are saved for always? David Pawson investigates this through biblical evidence, historical figures such as Augustine, Luther and Wesley, and evangelical assumptions about grace and justification, divine sovereignty and human responsibility. He asks whether something more than being born again is required so that our inheritance is not lost. This book helps us decide whether ‘once saved, always saved’ is real assurance or a misleading assumption. The answer will have profound effects on the way we live and disciple others.
