A scar from cheek to chin is all Marc Jordan remembers of the man kneeling over his dead mother. Now, 15 years later, Marc searches his memory for clues; he hopes to be the first to find the killer. Murder, blackmail, corruption and betrayal leave a trail from the storied vineyards of Spain to the wineries of Southern California, where no one is who or what they claim to be. Forced to accept a court case he does not want, Marc inadvertently unravels the threads that lead to solving his mother's murder. But with each revelation, his life spirals more and more out of control. A Man's Face is a multi-generational saga of treachery and corruption, set against the backdrop of the elite wine industry and courtroom drama. This is the large print edition of A Man's Face, with a larger font / typeface for easier reading.

The reconstruction of ancient Mesopotamian medical, ritual and omen compendia and their complex history is still characterised by many difficulties, debates and gaps due to fragmentary or unpublished evidence. This book offers the first complete edition of the Assur Medical Catalogue, an 8th or 7th century BCE list of therapeutic texts, which forms a core witness for the serialisation of medical compendia in the 1st millennium BCE. The volume presents detailed analyses of this and several other related catalogues of omen series and rituals, constituting the corpora of divination and healing disciplines. The contributions discuss links between catalogues and textual sources, providing new insights into the development of compendia between serialization, standardization and diversity of local traditions. Though its a novel corpus-based approach, this volume revolutionizes the current understanding of Mesopotamian medical texts and the healing disciplines of "conjurer" and "physician". The research presented here allows one to identify core text corpora for these disciplines, as well as areas of exchange and borrowings between them.

THE STORY OF JESUS: AN INTUITIVE ANTHOLOGY Many contemporary Christians suspect that there is more to Jesus and his enduring message than the little that has survived in historical writings and the legendary Christian tradition. This book offers a narrative account of Jesus' life from the perspective of twenty contemporary writers who have developed their natural intuitive abilities to an unusually high level. They are therefore able to bring forth new and detailed information not ordinarily accessible by historical or literary means. Some of them had demonstrated their unusual skill by probing deeply into the personal lives and minds of historical individuals other than Jesus, while some had provided important and detailed technical information which was then verified scientifically. They apply their intuitive skills here to uncover fresh information about the man Jesus, his contemporaries and his extensive teachings which never found their way into the New Testament Gospels and related historical documents. These new findings offer a much richer view of the man himself than that available from traditional Christian sources. They also provide illuminating insights and a deep spiritual understanding of Jesus' original and hidden teachings. The Story of Jesus is essential reading for all inquirers and seekers into these hidden and previously lost portions of Christian spiritual history.

Situated at the crossroads of rhetoric and fiction, the genre of declamatio offers its practitioners the freedom to experiment with new forms of discourse. This volume places the literariness of Roman declamation into the spotlight by showcasing its theoretical influences, stylistic devices, and generic conventions as related by Seneca the Elder, the author of the Controversiae and Suasoriae, which jointly make up the largest surviving collection of declamatory speeches from antiquity. Authored by an international group of leading scholars of Latin literature and rhetoric, the chapters explore not only the historical roles of individual declaimers, but also the physical and linguistic techniques upon which they collectively drew. In addition, the 'dark side of declamation' is illuminated by contributions on the competitiveness of the arena and the manipulative potential of declamatory skill and, in keeping with the overall treatment of declamation as a literary phenomenon, a section has also been dedicated to intertextuality. Drawing on thought-provoking analyses of Seneca the Elder's works, the volume highlights the complexity of these texts and maps out, for the first time, the socio-cultural context for their composition, delivery, and reception, as well as providing a comprehensive, innovative, and up-to-date treatment of Roman declamation that will be essential for both students and scholars in the fields of Latin literature, Republican Roman history, and rhetoric.
