The want of such a work as the present has accordingly long been felt, and acting upon the suggestion of many of my colleagues, I have endeavoured to satisfy it. Intended for the use of children in Standards III. to VI. of our schools (ages 9 to 13), the book has been written in simple yet progressive language.
