Measurements have been made of the production rates of D[sup +] and D[sub s] mesons via the channels D[sup +]-[bar K]*[sup 0] [ell][sup +][nu][sub [ell]] and D[sub s] [yields] [phi][pi] in e[sup +]e[sup -] annihilation at [radical]s = 29 GeV in 220 pb[sup -1] of data collected by the Mark II detector. The measurements assume the current branching ratios, measured predominantly at [radical]s [approx-equal] 10 GeV and by fixed target experiments. Measurements of the total production cross-sections times the appropriate branching ratios, which are independent of any other measurements, and an upper limit for the ratio of branching ratios, [Lambda](D[sub s] [yields] [phi][ell][bar [nu]][sub [ell]])/[Lambda](D[sub s] [yields] [phi][pi])

The authors perform a study of exclusive production of D{sub s}D{sub s}−, D*{sub s}+D{sub s}−, and D*{sub s}+D*{sub s}− final states in initial-state-radiation events from e+e− annihilations at a center-of-mass energy near 10.58 GeV, to search for charmonium 1−− states. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 525 fb−1 and was recorded by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II storage ring. The D{sub s}+ D{sub s}−, D*{sub s}+D{sub s}−, and D*{sub s}+D*{sub s}− mass spectra show evidence of the known [psi] resonances. Limits are extracted for the branching ratios of the decays X(4260) 2!D{sub s}{sup (*)+}D{sub s}{sup (*)-}.

D* production is studied in the decay chain D* .-->. D° .pi. with the D° observed in the K−.pi.+ mode and the corresponding charge conjugate decays. The results were obtained from a preliminary analysis of an 80 pb−1 data sample of e+e− annihilations at 29 GeV taken with the High Resolution Spectrometer at PEP. The excellent mass resolution of the HRS allows the study of the D* production and decay with very low background. We present the fragmentation function over the range of Z from 0.2 to 1.0.
