"Exploring Particles and Nuclei" is a comprehensive guide to the fascinating realm of subatomic physics. We delve into the fundamental building blocks of matter, from the intricate structure of atomic nuclei to the diverse array of particles that populate the universe. We begin by unraveling the mysteries of the nucleus, exploring proton-neutron interactions, nuclear forces, and the stability of atomic nuclei. The book covers nuclear reactions, including fusion, fission, and radioactive decay, shedding light on the processes that power stars and fuel nuclear technologies. Moving beyond the nucleus, we discuss quarks, leptons, and the fundamental forces governing their interactions. Readers will explore the Standard Model of particle physics, understanding the electromagnetic, weak, and strong forces, as well as the role of bosons and fermions. The book also covers advanced topics such as particle accelerators, collisions, and the search for new particles and phenomena. We discuss the role of particle detectors in experimental physics and the implications of particle physics in cosmology and astrophysics. With clear explanations, insightful discussions, and engaging illustrations, "Exploring Particles and Nuclei" is suitable for students, educators, and anyone curious about the nature of matter and the forces shaping our universe. Whether you're delving into nuclear physics for the first time or seeking a deeper understanding, this book provides a captivating journey into particle and nuclear physics.

Study Of The Electroweak Symmetry Breaking Sector For The Lhc written by Rafael Delgado López and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-06-29 with Science categories.

In this dissertation, we revisit the prospects of a strongly interacting theory for the Electroweak Symmetry Breaking Sector of the Standard Model, after the discovery of a Higgs-like boson at 125GeV. As the LHC constrains new phenomena near the Higgs mass, it is natural to assume that the new scale is of order 1TeV. This mass gap might indicate strongly interacting new physics. This work is of quite general validity and model independence. With only a few parameters at the Lagrangian level, multiple channels (possibly with new physics resonances) are describable, and many BSM theories can be treated. It will be of interest to postgraduate students and researchers, and is accessible to newcomers in the field. Many calculations are given in full detail and there are ample graphical illustrations.

Quantum Principles And Particles Second Edition written by Walter Wilcox and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-08-23 with Science categories.

This textbook offers a unique introduction to quantum mechanics progressing gradually from elementary quantum mechanics to aspects of particle physics. It presents the microscopic world by analysis of the simplest possible quantum mechanical system (spin 1/2). A special feature is the author’s use of visual aids known as process diagrams, which show how amplitudes for quantum mechanical processes are computed. The second edition includes a new chapter and problems on time-dependent processes, in addition to new material on quantum computing and improved illustrations. Key Features: Provides a completely updated text with expanded contents. Includes a brand new chapter on time-dependent processes and expanded coverage of recent developments in particle physics. Emphasizes a visual approach employing process diagrams and utilizing new figures. Incorporates quantum information theory in a new appendix, with other helpful supplements on notation, lattice models, weak flavor mixing, and numerical simulations.

Quantum Field Theory written by Lewis H. Ryder and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1996-06-06 with Science categories.

This book is a modern pedagogic introduction to the ideas and techniques of quantum field theory. After a brief overview of particle physics and a survey of relativistic wave equations and Lagrangian methods, the quantum theory of scalar and spinor fields, and then of gauge fields, is developed. The emphasis throughout is on functional methods, which have played a large part in modern field theory. The book concludes with a brief survey of 'topological' objects in field theory and, new to this edition, a chapter devoted to supersymmetry.

The Routledge Companion to Philosophy of Physics is a comprehensive and authoritative guide to the state of the art in the philosophy of physics. It comprisess 54 self-contained chapters written by leading philosophers of physics at both senior and junior levels, making it the most thorough and detailed volume of its type on the market – nearly every major perspective in the field is represented. The Companion’s 54 chapters are organized into 12 parts. The first seven parts cover all of the major physical theories investigated by philosophers of physics today, and the last five explore key themes that unite the study of these theories. I. Newtonian Mechanics II. Special Relativity III. General Relativity IV. Non-Relativistic Quantum Theory V. Quantum Field Theory VI. Quantum Gravity VII. Statistical Mechanics and Thermodynamics VIII. Explanation IX. Intertheoretic Relations X. Symmetries XI. Metaphysics XII. Cosmology The difficulty level of the chapters has been carefully pitched so as to offer both accessible summaries for those new to philosophy of physics and standard reference points for active researchers on the front lines. An introductory chapter by the editors maps out the field, and each part also begins with a short summary that places the individual chapters in context. The volume will be indispensable to any serious student or scholar of philosophy of physics.
