Weber; Sorbus (Mehlbeere, Vogelbeere) – Norbert Meyer; Hieracium laevigatum (Glattes Habichtskraut) – Siegfried Bräutigam; Taraxacum (Kuhblume, Löwenzahn) – Ingo Uhlemann, Jan Kirschner, Jan Štĕpánek. Die Bestimmungsschlüssel wurden aktualisiert und in weiten Teilen gänzlich neu entworfen. Sie spiegeln den aktuellen Stand der taxonomischen Forschung wider und liefern Angaben zur Ökologie und Verbreitung in Deutschland. Ausführliche Begleittexte zu den jeweiligen Gattungen führen in Evolutionsbiologie, Taxonomie und Besonderheiten ein und geben Hinweise zum Sammeln der Pflanzen. Eine Vielzahl neuer Detailzeichnungen unterstützt die Bestimmung dieser schwierigen Pflanzengruppen. Um eine unabhängige Nutzung zu ermöglichen, wurden die bewährten Einführungstexte und Fachworterklärungen aus dem Grundband übernommen und angepasst. In einem begleitenden Projekt (gefördert durch die Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) wurden sicher bestimmte Herbarbelege digitalisiert und in einem neuen Online-Portal Bestimmungskritische Taxa der deutschen Flora – Bestikri zur Verfügung gestellt. Der Kritische Ergänzungsband gibt keine Gesamtdarstellung der deutschen Flora, fungiert aber als eigenständige Bestimmungshilfe für besonders problematische, aber eben auch besonders interessante Sippen der deutschen Flora.
