A Passion For Difference written by Henrietta L. Moore and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-05-13 with Social Science categories.

In this new book Henrietta Moore examines the nature and limitations of the theoretical languages used by anthropologists and others to write about sex, gender and sexuality. Moore begins by discussing recent feminist debates on the body and the notion of the non-universal human subject. She then considers why anthropologists have contributed relatively little to these debates, and suggests that this has much to do with the history of anthropological thought with regard to the conceptualization of "persons" and "selves" cross-culturally. Moore develops a specific anthropological approach to feminist post-structuralist and psychoanalytic theory. In subsequent chapters Moore pursues a series of related themes including the links between gender, identity and violence; questions of gender and identity in the context of intra-household resource allocation; the construction of domestic space and its relationship to bodily practices and the internationalization of relations of difference; and the links between the gender of the anthropologist and the writing of anthropology. This volume demonstrates anthropology's contribution to current debates in feminist theory.

Passion And Addiction In Sports And Exercise written by Attila Szabo and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-06-07 with Sports & Recreation categories.

Passion and Addiction in Sports and Exercise is about the bright and dark aspects of sports and exercise behavior and revolves around two closely related yet distinct concepts. Passion is a joyful and healthy reflection of one’s enjoyment and dedication to an adopted sport or exercise. At the same time, exercise addiction is an obligatory and must-be-done training regimen. This book is the first to attempt to explain the significant differences between passion and addiction in sports and exercise, as well as the relationship between the two. This book presents an overview of three dimensions of passion and offers a new frame to contextualize exercise addition. The work also addresses the misinterpretation of certain aspects of training (e.g., intensity, frequency, and commitment) often related to the risk of exercise addiction. After introducing the health benefits of exercise, the book looks at the passion for sports and exercise training and the transition into maladaptive practice. Then it presents definitions and theoretical models for exercise addiction. It then examines exercise addiction cases while also illustrating how excessive or high exercise volumes could be beneficial instead of problematic. The last chapter offers a new approach for a better understanding of exercise addiction. Passion and Addiction in Sports and Exercise is helpful for students, researchers, and clinicians interested in sport and exercise psychology, athletic training, behavioral addictions, and physical education. As well as being valuable reading for all regular exercisers and physically active individuals, including athletes competing at various levels in different sport disciplines.

Making A Difference written by Steve Gilliland and has been published by Advantage Media Group this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-04 with Self-Help categories.

In Making a Difference, author Steve Gilliland brilliantly lays out three manageable means that make it possible for every person to unlock their potential and exert profound influence. Filled with inspirational anecdotes, laugh-out-loud humor, and thought provoking ideas, this book is an eye-opening journey that when put into practice, will make a considerable impact in your professional and personal life. As a master storyteller, Steve expounds on the essentials towards Making a Difference - Purpose, Passion, and Pride. Where you live, the money you possess, the money you stand to inherit, your marriage, the car you drive, and the friends you appear to have are outward signs of success and not necessarily indicators of inner fulfillment. The amount we earn or the success we achieve produces emptiness unless it is in line with a purpose beyond ourselves. This book demonstrates that you don't need a master's degree or a doctorate to make the world a better place. Making a Difference confirms that purpose is the essential ingredient to motivation and the ultimate path to making a difference; passion is what allows you to overcome challenges and disregard people who try to extend their misfortunes and negative outlook to you; and pride is about you and your expectations. It is about realizing the importance of your role in life and taking pride in everything you do! This book is a profound idea that will impact your life. Foreword by HERB KELLEHER Co-Founder, Chairman Emeritus and Former CEO of SOUTHWEST AIRLINES.

The Passion According To Luke written by Marion L. Soards and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-01-29 with Religion categories.

The goal of this redaction-critical investigation is to determine what in Luke 22 is special to Luke, to assess its origin, and to uncover Luke's purpose in using this material. Unlike earlier studies, Soards concentrates on lines of thought that link the chapter with the Gospel as a whole. The author's conclusion is that though Luke did not use a single coherent source other than Mark for this chapter, his diverse material was chosen in order to advance Luke's distinctive interests in Christology, eschatology and ecclesiology. Christologically, Jesus is shown as in charge of the Passion events and as the realization of a divine plan; eschatologically, the Passion is portrayed as inaugurating the era of the Last Days; ecclesiologically, Jesus's attitude to his disciples functions as instruction for Luke's readers about their role in God's plan.

Nomadic Subjects written by Rosi Braidotti and has been published by Columbia University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-05-24 with Philosophy categories.

For more than fifteen years, Nomadic Subjects has guided discourse in continental philosophy and feminist theory, exploring the constitution of contemporary subjectivity, especially the concept of difference within European philosophy and political theory. Rosi Braidotti's creative style vividly renders a productive crisis of modernity. From a feminist perspective, she recasts embodiment, sexual difference, and complex concepts through relations to technology, historical events, and popular culture. This thoroughly revised and expanded edition retains all but two of Braidotti's original essays, including her investigations into epistemology's relation to the "woman question;" feminism and biomedical ethics; European feminism; and the possible relations between American feminism and European politics and philosophy. A new piece integrates Deleuze and Guattari's concept of the "becoming-minoritarian" more deeply into modern democratic thought, and a chapter on methodology explains Braidotti's methods while engaging with her critics. A new introduction muses on Braidotti's provocative legacy.
