The political landscape of Europe is more fractured today than at any time since the Second World War. There are such strong polarising forces that the rhetoric of unity sounds increasingly empty. At the same time, European Christian Democracy has lost its distinctive identity and it threatens to be incorporated into one or other of the competing sides. Is there a promising way forward? This book sets out a relational vision that can act as a revitalising and unifying force. By reaching beyond the cultural and traditional roots of Christian division, we find in the biblical text a unique source for political common ground. So often the Bible has been used in a divisive way; but at its heart is a message that establishes and sustains relationships at every level of society. With this publication we can begin to see how this relational vision becomes reality.

The aim of this report is to help us imagine a better common economic life, one which rewards allthe stakeholders in business, rather than privileging the shareholding few. Such a move can anddoes benefit people, planet and profit, but it will only do so when we move from a story fuelled byextraction to one formed by creation. The authors of this report work in politics, economics andmanagement, but are also trained in theology. As such they are steeped in the deep stories that haveshaped our economic, political and social life. A full consideration of these deeper ideas that underlyour institutions (for good and for ill) is necessary if we are to truly imagine a better way to conductour business and how we shape our economic policies.

To cope with the problems of today's world, we need to enter into a dialogue regardless of political, religious and philosophical beliefs - a transversal dialogue as Pope Francis called for in the private audience, he gave to Alexis Tsipras, Walter Baier and Franz Kronreif in September 2014. This conversation resulted in the DIALOP initiative - a transversal dialogue between Socialists and Christians. Since then, a network of universities and NGOs have been exploring paths of what they call a transversal social ethics. In this book authors from Austria, Belgium, Colombia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Portugal and the Vatican air their views on topics like social equality, European Unity, democracy, the commons and ecology.

The history of Europe in the 20th century is closely tied to the history of urban planning. Social and economic progress but also the brute treatment of people and nature throughout Europe were possible due to the use of urban planning and the other levels of spatial planning. Thereby, planning has constituted itself in Europe as an international subject. Since its emergence, through intense exchange but also competition, despite country differences, planning has developed as a European field of practice and scientific discipline. Planning is here much more than the addition of individual histories; however, historiography has treated this history very selective regarding geography and content. This book searches for an understanding of the historiography of planning in a European dimension. Scholars from Eastern and Western, Southern and Northern Europe address the issues of the public led production of city and the social functions of urban planning in capitalist and state-socialist countries. The examined examples include Poland and USSR, Czech Republic and Slovakia, UK, Netherlands, Germany, France, Portugal and Spain, Italy, and Sweden. The book will be of interest to students and scholars for Urbanism, Urban/Town Planning, Spatial Planning, Spatial Politics, Urban Development, Urban Policies, Planning History and European History of the 20th Century. The Open Access version of this book, available at www.taylorfrancis.com, has been made available under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial-No Derivatives 4.0 license.

The Federal Vision is about the complex and changing relationship between levels of governance within the United States and the European Union. Based on a transatlantic dialogue between scholars concerned about modes of governance on both sides, it is a collective attempt at analysing the ramifications of the legitimacy crisis in our multi-layered democracies, and possible remedies. Starting from a focus on the current policy debatea over devolution and subsidiarity, the book engages the reader in to the broader tension of comparartive federalism. Its authors believe that in spite of the fundamental differences between them, both the EU and the US are in the process of re-defining a federal vision for the 21st century. This book represents an important new contribution to the study of Federalism and European integration, which seeks to bridge the divide between the two. It also bridges the traditional divide between technical, legal or regulatory discussions of federal governance and philosophical debates over questions of belonging and multiple identities. It is a multi-disciplinary project, bringing together historians, political scientists and theorists, legal scholars, sociologists and political economists. It includes both innovative analysis and prescriptions on how to reshape the federal contract in the US and the EU. It includes introductions to the history of federalism in the US and the EU, the current debates over devolution and subsidarity, the legal framework of federalism and theories of regulatory federalism, as well as innovative approaches to the application of network analysis, principal-agent models, institutionalist analysis, and political theories of citizenship to the federal context. The introduction and conclusion by the editors draws out cross-cutting themes and lessons from the thinking together of the EU and US experiences, and suggest how a federal vision could be freed from the hierarchical paradigm of the federal state and articulated around concepts of mutal tolerence and empowerment.

Advances In Relational Economics written by Jacob Dahl Rendtorff and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-01-04 with Business & Economics categories.

This book explores how economic and social values are created through dynamic, non-linear interactions within cooperative networks. Emphasizing the importance of relations and networks in value creation, the book discusses critical issues such as the relational nature of the firm, relational management and leadership as well as relational philosophy. This includes topics such as network models, stakeholder management, relational contracts, cooperative economics as well as philosophical questions related to relational ontology, epistemology and methodology, inter alia. Written by leading scholars, the contributions highlight the need for new business models and governance mechanisms that integrate resources across different economic and social systems, advocating for a relational approach to economic theory. In turn, the book argues for a network-based, integrative view of businesses, suggesting that economic success is increasingly dependent on the ability to navigate and foster complex relationships within a globalized context. Rich in theoretical and empirical insights, this book is essential reading for academics, policymakers, and business leaders interested in the future of economic thought and practice. It provides a comprehensive overview of the relational paradigm. The book is an invitation to join the conversation on how relational perspectives can transform our understanding of economics, governance, and organizational dynamics.
