The concept of New Thought promotes the ideas that Infinite Intelligence, or God, is everywhere, spirit is the totality of real things, true human selfhood is divine, divine thought is a force for good, sickness originates in the mind, and "right thinking" has a healing effect. It is usually believed that God or Infinite Intelligence is "supreme, universal, and everlasting", that divinity dwells within each person, that all people are spiritual beings, to heal oneself mentally and emotionally. Henry Harrison Brown (1840-1918) was an Editor and publisher of NOW in 1900s. He also served in U. S. Volunteers during Civil War from August, 1862, until October, 1865. He had already gained immense experience and reputation in mental healing and teaching since 1893 and his book "Dollars Want Me" (pub. 1903) ran up to 30 editions in 1917.

Excellence and the highest levels of performance in the arts and sciences, sports, and games have always been an object of fascination to both scientists and lay people. Only during the last 20 years have scientists studied these levels of performance in the laboratory in order to identify their mediating mechanisms. Contrary to the common belief that innate talents are the critical factors for exceptional performance, investigators have found that acquired skills, knowledge, and physiological adaptations in response to intense practice are the primary mechanisms, mediating the highest levels of performance. This is the first and only book to examine how elite performers effect their exceptional accomplishments. The world's leading researchers on expert performance and creative achievement review theories and recent findings from many different domains of expertise on how experts optimize improvement in their performance and eventually attain excellence. Elite performers are shown to have engaged in deliberate-practice activities specifically designed to improve their performance from an early age. By age 20 they have often accumulated over 10,000 hours of practice! The essential elements of deliberate practice, such as specific goals to improve performance, successive refinement through repetition, feedback and instruction, are explicated for different domains. Although the content of practice tasks will necessarily differ from domain to domain, investigators have found invariant characteristics for the optimal duration of practice sessions, maximal amounts of daily practice, the length of intense preparation (around 10 years), and ages of peak performance. Some of the book's chapters extend the review to the acquisition of everyday-life skills such as reading, to the performance of teams of experts, and to the development of creative achievement, geniuses, and artistic child prodigies. The book concludes with commentaries by several outstanding scientists in psychology, education, and history of science who discuss the generalizability of presented ideas and raise issues for future issues. EXTRA COPY...It could be said that striving for excellence is what characterizes humanity, or perhaps what characterizes humanity at its best. Why do so few individuals ever reach the highest levels when so many start out on the Road to Excellence? In this book, the world's foremost researchers of expert performance in domains as diverse as sports, medicine, chess, and the arts explore the similarities and differences in the extended and strenuous Road to Excellence taken by the successful individuals in each domain. Their findings will intrigue and inspire readers who are themselves driven to achieve or who simply want to better understand the processes involved.

Johan Bruyneel knows what it takes to win. In 1998, this astute former pro cyclist looked a struggling rider and cancer survivor in the eye and said, 'If we're going to ride the Tour, we might as well win.' What followed was extraordinary. With Bruyneel as his team director, Lance Armstrong seized a record seven straight Tour de France victories. Meanwhile, Bruyneel brought innovation to the sport of cycling, and in 2007 he took the Tour de France title with a new, young team, securing his place in sporting history. This is the first time the man closest to Armstrong has unveiled his secrets of motivation, planning and execution. Whether mounting a difficult climb, managing a team of 30 riders and 40 support staff from a car hurtling along narrow roads or looking a future legend in the eye and willing him to believe, Bruyneel is, and always has been, the consummate winner. This is his story.

Long-distance triathlons are becoming increasingly popular as thousands of athletes compete in more than 200 races globally each season. Every one of these athletes requires quality training information and experienced coaching advice. Drawing on his 20 years of coaching experience, Mario Schmidt-Wendling provides the best training information for ambitious triathletes competing in Olympic- to Ironman-distance triathlons, making Triathlon Success a must-have practical guide. This book does not offer generally formulated training plans, but rather considers an athlete's individual situation, such as their performance level, which means the athlete is given the most important basics to be able to make the right decisions for his or her own training. Trainers will also find the book useful as both their work and the most important aspects of training theory for the long-distance triathlon are highlighted and explained. In addition to the extensive material on training and competition, the triathlete will find relevant information on equipment, nutrition, and even how to prevent those typical mistakes made during training in all three disciplines. All of the training content is enriched by numerous practical examples, and the provided test procedures help triathletes diagnose their own progress. Useful information on topics such as injuries, illness, and training and competing in the heat, as well as a sample 16-week training plan round out this ultimate training guide.
