Did you know that many sailing couples and sailing families are enjoying the benefits of the sailing lifestyle while making a fantastic income? Most people assume that the boating life is only for the rich or retired. So not true!I've met loads of people that tell me they'll have fun when they retire or live the sailing dream once the kids are gone. And many unfortunately believe that you have to go to school, get a good job, have kids, be a pillar of the community, grow old, retire, and then you can relax and reap the rewards of all your hard work.Of course it's important to be responsible, take care of yourself and your family but why not do that AND enjoy one of the most amazing lifestyles out there?!Would it surprise you to discover that there are thousands of people and families out living the dream and you could live it too?My name is Kimberly and I am working sailing cruiser who has been successfully making a six-figure income while sailing around the world on my beautiful 56 yacht with my lovely husband and beautiful daughter. I'm no one special. I wasn't born wealthy, nor did I win the lottery. My husband was a prison officer and later a stay-at-home dad. I ran a foreign currency business in London. Both of us decided that life wasn't working for us, so we sold everything we had, purchased a sailboat, and sailed off into the sunset. We had a bit of money to live off of for a while, but the plan was to make an income. Over the years, I didn't feel as if I was making much progress, nor did I know exactly where we were heading. I just kept working away at a variety of things. Today we have multiple streams of income-some passive, requiring very little effort, and some active, requiring our full attention. We make money while we sleep, and we make money when we have guests join us on our boat. The glorious thing is that we also make money while we have guests and sleep! Only now can I look back and provide you with what worked so that you can get a jumpstart to living your sailing life while making money to truly enjoy it. I've created this book to help you realize that it's possible to live your dream, and I'd like to share with you how we've made it work for us and how others have done the same. You most likely won't want to follow in our exact steps, although we'd be happy to help you do so. What's important is to understand the strategies available, the overarching principles and action steps that we applied. My hope is that you can make things work quicker and easier than it has been for us. The approach that we've taken has allowed us to create a variety of income streams so that when one goes down, like when a world-wide pandemic destroys one income stream, other sources of income will support us through the tough times. This book will provide you with an arsenal of many options. I hope you'll get excited by the sheer number of opportunities there are to go out and live the life of your dreams! Sailboat Guying Guide For Cruisers. What's the scoop?! We want you to get the right boat for the right value so that you can make your sailboat and sailing dream come true. And we're hoping that during the course of your sailboat buying journey, that we can help to entertain, educate, inspire and eventually connect with you at a beautiful tropical anchorage. Note: if your plans are to sail to the Arctic we'll have to skip the idea of physically meeting. We don't do cold...This is who we are...If you haven't bumped into us before - My family consists of my husband Simon (British), my daughter, Sienna (age 9 at the time of writing) and me - I'm Kim (American). In 2013 my family and I sold all our possessions, purchased our sailboat Britican (British and American put together) and headed out to sea. The rat race wasn't working for us so we decided to find another way to live. We've been sailing around the world ever since. So far we've sailed over 30,000 miles and that includes circumnavigating the Mediterranean, crossing the Atlantic Ocean (took 18 days), enjoying our way up the Caribbean Islands, taking a break from sailing (but not the boat) in Charleston, South Carolina and we've most recently sailed back down the Caribbean island chain all the way to Trinidad and Tobago. And 'no' we did not have loads of sailing experience before we left land.So let me tell you why I wrote this guide for you...The sailing community is full of great people. The people who work in the sailing industry (boat brokers, sailing service professionals, marina managers, etc.), however, are often disingenuous, corrupt people. New and old sailors are getting ripped off all the time. And the place where they get ripped off the most is when they purchase a boat. So, a big issue that new sailboat owners have to contend with is paying way too much for a boat and/or getting a boat that isn't in the condition as advertised or expected. The next biggest issue is information overload. There's so much information nowadays that it's hard to figure out what you need to know and when you need to know it. That goes for buying a sailboat and transitioning into the cruising lifestyle. Buying a sailboat is NOT like buying a car or a house. In both those cases, the consumer is far more protected. And changing lifestyles from land to sea is not something that most people have done before. There's a massive learning curve on both accounts! That being stated, this guide will outline ten steps to buying a boat for the purposes of cruising long term (6 months +). This guide will help you to clarify your thought process, avoid making mistakes and it will certainly help to save you money. Ultimately it will you'll provide you with a clearer perspective about some of the issues involved with buying a boat and transitioning to a life on the sea.10 Steps To Buying A SailboatStep 1: Understand Your Big PictureStep 2: Prioritizing Your Requirements For The Right BoatStep 3: Understand Boat Ownership Costs Step 4: Study Different Sailboats & Cruisers (from home)Step 5: Go Sailing & Gain Experience Step 6: Find Potential Boats To BuyStep 7: Create A Strategy On Boats To Buy & View ThemStep 8: Sea Trial & SurveyStep 9: Negotiating The Terms Of SaleStep 10: Buy The Boat

Written in the voices of both authors, so you can follow their experiences from each of their perspectives, which are sometimes wildly different, this practical handbook is peppered with personal anecdotes and hard-earned wisdom. Light-hearted but informative, it contains all the questions, answers, lists, figures and diagrams you need to make your liveaboard dreams come true.

""Bargain Boats and Budget Cruising" is about how the ordinary person, one who does not have a trust fund or hundreds of thousands of dollars saved up, can still embark and see the world, or live-aboard a sailing vessel for extended periods in beautiful places without waiting for years and years to save up enough money before they can start, or without the need to work for decades to "retire" afloat. This book is for those who wish to go now; who want to live this exciting lifestyle immediately, rather than waiting any longer; dreaming of waving palm trees while standing on a distant shore. Or worse, trapped in a city in the middle of a continent working a job they hate, to pay for the house or apartment they need to work that job and pay for the vehicle they need to get to that job, plus insurance, utilities, and the myriad other annoyances that can hinder experiencing an incredibly simple, healthy, exciting, and fulfilling life. In "Bargain Boats and Budget Cruising," accredited Marine Surveyor and long-time cruiser, Todd Duff, provides lessons learned from 40+ years of experience buying, selling, surveying, outfitting older sailboats, and taking them cruising the world. Cruising Boat Basics written by Cap'n Fatty Goodlander and has been published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-01-03 with categories.

This book contains 58 years of seamanship and ship's husbandry distilled into more than 350 readable pages. It is chockfull of technical information gathered during three circumnavigations and a lifetime of living aboard in foreign ports. It tells you the nitty-gritty technical details of the sea gypsy lifestyle. It isn't merely about the boat, it is also about the knowledge required to safely handle that boat and, ultimately, how to manage the cruise as well. It contains what every sea gypsy understands-but few marine publications address-the good, the bad, and the ugly of ocean cruising. It does not cop-out by telling you to throw money at your problems by hiring marine experts. It does exactly the opposite. It informs you how to not need those experts. It clearly communicates the morality, the economy, the karma, and the delights of sailing the world with empty pockets and full hearts. Cruising offshore isn't rocket science. It is all basic, logical stuff. The skills required can be explained step-by-step. This book reveals the reality of buying a well-found, inexpensive boat and outfitting it for living aboard-then taking it inshore gunkholing, coastal sailing, offshore cruising, and ocean storm-strutting. Reading this book is like sitting in the cockpit of a battered ketch at anchor in an exotic port-and having one of the most famous circumnavigators spin yarns, tell jokes, and give the most outrageous of advice on cruising under sail. Forget the "you gotta have a pile of money" rock-hugger thinking. You don't. There are a million good reasons why not to go to sea-lack of money is not one of them. Basic seamanship is far more important than coinage-and you can't buy seamanship. In fact, circumnavigators with large purses actually have less fun than work-as-you-sail sea gypsies. This book was not written for the edification of Topside-clad yachtsmen or teak-trodding credit card captains-but rather for the working-class sailor attempting to transit from dirt dweller to ocean vagabond without losing sight of the daily fun factor. Does sailing across an ocean on a small vessel seem like an immense challenge? It doesn't need to be-if you are prepared with a well-found boat, strong offshore safety gear, and some basic seamanship skills. Fatty and his wife Carolyn are currently on their fourth circumnavigation. They sail across oceans with no more concern than most yachties experience while putt-putting to the fuel dock. Are you just getting your sealegs but have a burning desire to live within Mother Ocean's warm embrace? To be truly free? To sail to Borneo, Madagascar, Cocos Keeling, the Caribbean, and Chagos? To kiss life full on the lips from the deck of a small boat on a big ocean? Then you are in luck. This book is written with the specific aim of helping sailors exactly like you accomplish these very real, very worthwhile cruising dreams-without a massive amount of money, complication, or BS. Welcome aboard!
