As a reborn mermaid, Amandine is tasked by her Goddess to go ashore during the equinox and obtain a chosen human's heart before the following Blood Moon. In exchange, any wish of her choosing will be bestowed upon her. Though the chosen human, Marc, is unaffected by Amandine's mystical charm, she waits patiently for the prime moment to carve out his heart and deliver it to her creator. As she learns more about him, Amandine finds that the reason Marc can resist her allure is in his blood; making him even more special than she had once perceived him to be.The longer she is among the humans, the more Amandine's mind recalls about her previous life as one of them. Her emotions, in turn, also seek to deceive her; allowing he and his daughters to slowly become a part of her once-numb being. Seeing the possibility of unfaithfulness, one of her kin decides to take advantage of Amandine's weakness and pursue the task of killing the human herself; therefore, being entitled to get her own wish granted.Amandine must choose: Complete her mission and obtain her blessed wish, or protect the family and be disloyal to the deity who gave her this existence. Will she cast aside her own feelings in the name of her duty? Or will she realize, in the end, what her heart's true desire is?

In this collection of his essays on Homer, some new and some appearing for the first time in English, the distinguished scholar Pietro Pucci examines the linguistic and rhetorical features of the poet's works. Arguing that there can be no purely historical interpretation, given that the parameters of interpretation are themselves historically determined, Pucci focuses instead on two features of Homer's rhetoric: repetition of expression (formulae) and its effects on meaning, and the issue of intertextuality.

recently a reader wrote about pangasm: "I have read Pangasm and I continue to meditate on it.. I have been using it as kind of an inspiration for a modern form of Taoist sexual therapy. I use its principles as I work to merge the "earth chakras". The transformative energy has been tremendous. Reclaiming my "desire body" has reconciled so many divisions in my psyche. The process continues to unfold. Pangasm played a role in giving me the courage to become a massage therapist and its principles help me relate to and appreciate my clients, friends, spouse, lovers, etc... It has healed the place where I used to be afraid of women. What a brilliant message!"

A free open access ebook is available upon publication. Learn more at www.luminosoa.org. By the 1960s, Hindi-language films from Bombay were in high demand not only for domestic and diasporic audiences but also for sizable non-diasporic audiences across Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East, and the Indian Ocean world. Often confounding critics who painted the song-dance films as noisy and nonsensical. if not dangerously seductive and utterly vulgar, Bombay films attracted fervent worldwide viewers precisely for their elements of romance, music, and spectacle. In this richly documented history of Hindi cinema during the long 1960s, Samhita Sunya historicizes the emergence of world cinema as a category of cinematic diplomacy that formed in the crucible of the Cold War. Interwoven with this history is an account of the prolific transnational circuits of popular Hindi films alongside the efflorescence of European art cinema and Cold War–era forays of Hollywood abroad. By following archival leads and threads of argumentation within commercial Hindi films that seem to be odd cases—flops, remakes, low-budget comedies, and prestige productions—this book offers a novel map for excavating the historical and ethical stakes of world cinema and world-making via Bombay.

The Book Of The Love Smitten Heart written by Rene D'Anjou and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-01-11 with Literary Collections categories.

Available only in Middle French and German translation until now, this volume constitutes the first full-length , French-English bilingual edition of Rene of Anjou's Livre du cuers d'amours espris, including all sixteen of the celebrated color plates, a critical introduction, notes on the translation, and a comprehensive bibliography. The book tells the tale of desire and adventure as Heart -- part of Rene torn from his body by Love -- travels a complex allegorical landscape in quest of the lady Mercy, who is being held prisoner by a band of miscreants led by Refusal and Shame. Rene begs the reader to help him determine which of three entities is responsible for his torment: Fortune led him to the lady whom he loves; once he arrived, Love, in the guise of his lady's gaze, struck his heart; and Destiny insists that he reflect upon her alone. In addition to being a compelling courtly page-turner, The Book of the Love-Smitten Heart represents the rare instance in which a medieval love story is told simultaneously in three frameworks: autobiographical letter, dream vision, and quest romance. This structure makes clear the multiple logics within which the author's psychology is reflected in the story, and illustrates how the symbol of the heart, as it travels through these shifting frameworks, dramatizes vital relations linking self, desire, and writing.
