Haiti is approximately an hour and a half flight away from the state of Florida, and yet it is merely recognized to a limited Americans, and unheard of by many nations in the world. The island is an abode to a people of unbeatable values and astonishing histories that are in no comparison to any other nations on Earth. On that island, the African slaves contrived tactics that were perplexed to their oppressors, through which they had defeated Napoleonic forces in 1803, to become the First Black Nation in the world. Even today, the superpowers which had converged to keep them in bondage still show resentment toward them, feeling ashamed and threaten by their success, skeptical that their history may overshadow theirs. The eventful revolution on that island had sparked revolutions around the World, motivated slaves miles away to fight for the rights they are naturally entitled to as Human Beings. Today the nation is undoubtedly traversing frustrating moments, however their endurance is as strong as their heart, and through it all they are triumphant through courage to prevail as they retain their place in history of the World as the First to eradicate slavery from their land.

Aaron Cohen left behind his closest friends, his dying father, and the rock-star life for an unyielding one-man global pursuit. At a time when more people than ever before are enslaved on this planet, Aaron Cohen found himself on a path of spiritual discovery that both transformed and endangered his life. Once the best friend and business partner to Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, Cohen now works alone, navigating the oppressive territory of pimps and drug lords from the shantytowns of Cambodia to the sweltering savannahs of Sudan. The flesh trade is the world’s fastest growing and most deadly illegal enterprise— even more profitable and easier to hide than guns, drugs, and precious gems. Cohen, posing as a sex tourist, slips into brothels, urged by madams to select from a lineup of girls as young as six. Sometimes he can save them from their captors, but more often than not, he must leave them behind, taking only the evidence he hopes will eventually lead to their rescue. In a remarkable, unprecedented exposé of the sinister trade, the rocker-turned-activist reveals the fast-paced, inspiring, and unforgettable story of a real-life slave hunter.

The Two Princes Of Calabar written by Randy J. Sparks and has been published by Harvard University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-07-01 with History categories.

In 1767, two “princes” of a ruling family in the port of Old Calabar, on the slave coast of Africa, were ambushed and captured by English slavers. The princes, Little Ephraim Robin John and Ancona Robin Robin John, were themselves slave traders who were betrayed by African competitors—and so began their own extraordinary odyssey of enslavement. Their story, written in their own hand, survives as a rare firsthand account of the Atlantic slave experience. Randy J. Sparks made the remarkable discovery of the princes’ correspondence and has managed to reconstruct their adventures from it. They were transported from the coast of Africa to Dominica, where they were sold to a French physician. By employing their considerable language and interpersonal skills, they cleverly negotiated several escapes that took them from the Caribbean to Virginia, and to England, but always ended in their being enslaved again. Finally, in England, they sued for, and remarkably won, their freedom. Eventually, they found their way back to Old Calabar and, evidence suggests, resumed their business of slave trading. The Two Princes of Calabar offers a rare glimpse into the eighteenth-century Atlantic World and slave trade from an African perspective. It brings us into the trading communities along the coast of Africa and follows the regular movement of goods, people, and ideas across and around the Atlantic. It is an extraordinary tale of slaves’ relentless quest for freedom and their important role in the creation of the modern Atlantic World.

Liberia And The Quest For Freedom written by C. Burrowes and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-08-22 with categories.

Africa's past and present are deeply influenced by the capture and selling of millions of its people over several centuries. To a greater extent, that is true for Liberia, a country to which blacks from the Americas returned. Liberia's recent civil war, the trans-Atlantic slave trade inflicted pains, traumas and losses that cannot be ignored out of existence. Driven beneath the surface, they corrode our conscience and erode our humanity. By pretending they did not happen, we destroy our ability to tell right from wrong, victims from villains. Echoes of the slavery era can be heard in the derogatory names we call each other like "Gio," "Belle," and "ex-slaves." Liberians living today are called upon to build peace by doing away with relations of great inequality. They have no better examples than the first generation of Liberians, both repatriates and indigenous, who worked together to do just that.
