Who Dares Wins written by Pete Scholey and has been published by Osprey Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008 with Soldiers categories.

The Special Air Service (SAS) is the toughest regiment in the British Army and is fted as the best Special Forces unit in the world. Members of the SAS live in a shadow world, unable to divulge their whereabouts or mission details, living a hard life of combat and secrets. This book brings to life the stories of 20 soldiers who were genuine heroes, although many were never recognised as such during their lives or even in death. Who Dares Wins contains former SAS soldier Pete Scholey's memories of some of those men. It is a book about soldiers who bravely fought for their country in extreme circumstances with no desire to be famous, fted or rewarded. Each chapter tells us about the life and combat stories of the men who, although capable of superhuman effort, were very much human beings. Some of the stories of Pete's heroes have never been heard before and certainly none of these dramatic tales of combat and life in the regiment have been told in such a touching and compelling manner.

The Scout Mindset written by Julia Galef and has been published by Hachette UK this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-04-13 with Business & Economics categories.

Winner of best smart thinking book 2022 (Business Book Awards) Guardian best books of 2021 'Original, thought-provoking and a joy to read' Tim Harford 'Highly recommended. It's not easy to become (more of) a scout, but it's hard not to be inspired by this book' Rutger Bregman When it comes to what we believe, humans see what they want to see. In other words, we have what Julia Galef calls a 'soldier' mindset. From tribalism and wishful thinking, to rationalising in our personal lives and everything in between, we are driven to defend the ideas we most want to believe - and shoot down those we don't. But if we want to get things right more often we should train ourselves to think more like a scout. Unlike the soldier, a scout's goal isn't to defend one side over the other. It's to go out, survey the territory, and come back with as accurate a map as possible. Regardless of what they hope to be the case, above all, the scout wants to know what's actually true. In The Scout Mindset, Galef shows that what makes scouts better at getting things right isn't that they're smarter or more knowledgeable than everyone else. It's a handful of emotional skills, habits, and ways of looking at the world - which anyone can learn. With fascinating examples ranging from how to survive being stranded in the middle of the ocean, to how Jeff Bezos avoids overconfidence, to how superforecasters outperform CIA operatives, to Reddit threads and modern partisan politics, Galef explores why our brains deceive us and what we can do to change the way we think. 'With insights that are both sharp and actionable, The Scout Mindset picks up where Predictably Irrational left off. Reading it will teach you to think more clearly, see yourself more accurately, and be wrong a little less often' Adam Grant

Dare and Live is a demonstration of raw courage in the face of overwhelming odds against the superior military power of the Imperial Japanese Forces in Negros Islands, Philippines after the United States Armed Forces in the Philippines lost in the battles of Bataan and Corrigedor Islands. M/Sgt. Jorge G. Herrera, Jr. did not surrender to the Japanese Army in Negros Islands, instead he gathered 3 Filipinos and they started the recruitment and training of other Guerrilla Soldiers. He established a Bivouac at the mountain sides of Negros Islands. He equipped his hideout with telephone communication for fast intelligence. He staged many ambushes against the Japanese Soldiers. The Japanese Army hired a female Filipino and sent her on a secret mission of setting up an entrapment for the capture of M/Sgt. Jorge G. Herrera, Jr. It was strange how Jorge G. Herrera, Jr. discovered the plot of the Japanese Army against him. He eluded the Japanese Army dragnet. M/Sgt. Jorge G. Herrera, Jr. must have been the only Filipino Guerrilla Leader who captured, alive, 21 Japanese Soldiers in an ambush encounter. Walk the Wall, gaze northwards across hostile territory, man the turrets and milecastles… What was life like for the Roman troops stationed on Hadrian’s Wall? Follow the life of one man, a Tungrian soldier, through recruitment, training, garrison duty and war. Focussing on a single point in time and one fort on the Wall, we explore every aspect of military life on this bleak and remote frontier. Where was he born? What did he spend his money on? How did he fight? What did he eat? Did he have lice or fleas? Archaeology and the accounts of ancient writers come together to paint a vivid picture of a soldier on the Wall soon after its completion in AD 130. Historical reconstruction and experimentation fill in the gaps that are left. Step back into the past, step into the marching boots of Tungrian soldiers as they patrol Rome’s greatest frontier. 21 black-and-white drawings and maps and 34 colour illustrations
