Harriet and Fletcher Tuke have worked hard to raise their children well. Daniel, the eldest son, has always accepted that his birth father died soon after he was born, and Fletcher has raised Daniel as his own. But as Daniel comes of age and begins to fall in love with childhood friend Beatrice Hart, he can’t help but wonder about his heritage – his olive skin and dark eyes reminding him daily of the difference between him and his siblings, and between his and Beatrice’s families. Meanwhile, shocking truths about Fletcher’s own family line are suddenly brought to the surface, revealing a connection between the two families. Daniel’s wish to learn about his bloodline takes him to Europe, where decisions about his future take shape. But will it be one he can share with Beatrice? And as Harriet hopefully awaits his return back home on the farm, she could never imagine that answers to questions about her own family are also just on the horizon. If you enjoy books by Katie Flynn and Dilly Court, you'll love Val's heartwarming stories of triumph over adversity. A great deal has been written about the bond between mothers and daughters and fathers and daughters. This book explores the equally complex and rewarding relationship between mothers and their sons. It begins with a survey of the literature on the mother/son relationship. Forcey's study is based on the oral histories of 120 mothers who reveal their feelings of responsibility toward their sons, their expectations, and how they communicate. In her examination of the mother/son relationsip, the author ultimately questions whether or not mothers foster sexist masculinity and whether they can be blamed for male dominance..

Northeast India is a rich zone of ethnic and cultural diversity. In Assam, the Karbis are numerically third highest Tribal group. However, very few systematic Anthropological researches have been conducted on their indigenous knowledge and perspectives of ethno-ecology. It can be noted that the Karbis have their own identical cultural practices and social customs, with their unique ethno-ecological approach. Primarily, they are dwelling in the Karbi Anglong district of Assam. The said district is geographically in a very strategic location in the hinterland of Nagaland, Meghalaya state and Nagaon district of Assam. The present book is an attempt to have a detailed account on the little known Karbi Tribal group of Northeast India, from their ethno-ecological perspectives. The book has focused primarily on the issues related to their origin and ethnic distribution, society, culture, traditional economic organization, religious beliefs and practices, material culture as a whole. The present book is the first ethno-ecological approach on the Karbis from Anthropological perspective.
