This book presents a new analytical framework the theory of production. It is based upon a rigorous reconstruction of the intellectual heritage of economics, but focuses upon issues that are traditionally left aside by economists, such as the distinction between three dimensions of the production process (tasks, capabilities, materials in process), the organizational approach to scale and size, and the idea that different institutional set-ups may be compatible with a given 'objective' standard of efficiency. This study thus fills an important gap in the existing theoretical literature on productive structures. Part One presents the general conceptual framework and investigates its roots in the received tradition of economic theory. Part Two expounds the pure theory of tasks and processes in which important features of the production structure are considered independently of agents' capabilities and materials' characteristics. Part Three explicitly introduces agents and materials, and argues that the gradual opening up of the above 'hierarchical' theory of production to institutional and historical elements provides an invaluable insight into the relative importance of factors moulding the actual forms of productive organization and processes of structural change.

Theory Of Production written by Heinz D. Kurz and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1997-02-28 with Business & Economics categories.

This book contains a systematic and comprehensive analytical treatment of the theory of production in a long-period framework. Given the scope of investigation, the methods employed, and the results derived, this study is of interest to all economic theorists. Professors Kurz and Salvadori explore economic systems in which commodities are produced by means of labor, natural resources, and commodified-means of production. They investigate the relationship between production, income distribution, and relative prices for stationary or growing economies characterized by free competition. Specific chapters deal with joint production, fixed capital (including the joint utilization of machines), scarce natural resources (both renewable and exhaustible), heterogeneous labor, the problem of capital, and alternative theories of distribution. The historical origins of the concepts used from the time of the classical economists onward are also discussed in considerable detail.

Production And Distribution Theories written by George Joseph Stigler and has been published by Transaction Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1994-01-01 with Business & Economics categories.

Production and Distribution Theories became a landmark in the study of economics when it was published in 1941. Nobel Laureate Stigler's book was the first to trace the development of theories alongside the history of economic thought. Stigler's pioneering effort remains a classic work on the evolution of distribution theory during a critical juncture in the development of modern industrial capitalism. Stigler examines the writings of major economists during the century, including William Stanley Jevons, Phillip Wicksteed, Alfred Marshall, F.Y. Edgeworth, and Leon Walras. He uses their works in order to show a variety of perspectives on distribution theory. Among the methods of thought he explores are neoclassical price theory and marginal productivity theory. In the new introduction, Douglas Irwin illustrates how this book came into being and notes its continuing significance to the study of economics. Joseph Schumpeter commented in his History of Economic Analysis that "this excellent work by a competent theorist is perhaps the best survey in existence of the theoretical work of that period's leaders and is strongly recommended." This judgment still stands. The book will be of great interest to those interested not only in neoclassical economics, but also in the sources of Stigler's economic thought.

The Pure Theory Of Capital written by F. A. Hayek and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-08-08 with Business & Economics categories.

F. A. Hayek’s long-overlooked volume, was his most detailed work in economic theory. Originally published in 1941 when fashionable economic thought had shifted to John Maynard Keynes, Hayek’s manifesto of capital theory is now available again for today’s students and economists to discover. With a new introduction by Hayek expert Lawrence H. White, who firmly situates the book not only in historical and theoretical context but within Hayek’s own life and his struggle to complete the manuscript, this edition commemorates the celebrated scholar’s last major work in economics. Offering a detailed account of the equilibrium relationships between inputs and outputs in an economy, Hayek’s stated objective was to make capital theory "useful for the analysis of the monetary phenomena of the real world.” His ambitious goal was nothing less than to develop a capital theory that could be fully integrated into the business cycle theory.

Theory of Technical Change and Economic Invariance: Application of Lie Groups presents the economic invariance problems observable behavior under general transformations such as taste change or technical change. This book covers a variety of topics in economic theory, ranging from the analysis of production functions to the general recoverability problem of optimal dynamic behavior. Organized into nine chapters, this book begins with an overview of the theory of observable behavior by analyzing the invariant relationships among economic variables. This text then examines the Lie group theory which provides one of the most efficient methods of studying invariance properties. Other chapters consider the analysis of exogenous technical change, a process partly due to dynamic market forces of supply and demand. This book discusses as well the topics closely related to parametric changes under Lie groups and related transformations. The final chapter deals with mathematical foundations of the theory of observable market behavior. This book is a valuable resource for economists.
