“Jennie’s blend of witchcraft and hygge resonates so deeply with me. In Hearth and Home Witchcraft, Jennie’s book is a joyful and supportive exploration of domestic witchcraft. Nourishment and comfort are important themes here, as is accessibility; you don't need a background in magick to start exploring hearth-craft.” —Arin Murphy-Hiscock, author of The Green Witch, The House Witch, and other books For author Jennie Blonde, witchcraft is, in and of itself, comforting. Sure, there are not-so-comfortable parts as well—working with the shadow, coming face to face with that which holds you back. Jennie’s witchcraft is about connecting with the magic of nature, your higher self, and something beyond—a deity, deities, Spirit, the universe—and being comfortable with your true self in all aspects of your life. “In times of anxiety,” Jennie writes, “I turn to my practice. When I need a moment of calm and reflection, I retreat to my sacred space for quiet meditation, pulling tarot cards, and journaling to nourish my soul. When I want to nourish my family, I turn to my garden and herbs and cauldron (my stockpot) for a bit of kitchen witchery. When I wish to nourish my body, I turn to mindful movement, self-care rituals, and spell work. And throughout the day, every day, there are small rituals I perform to keep me connected to my practice. It’s all of those things together that are the heart of my craft.” Hearth and Home Witchcraft explores the following topics: rituals for protection and cleansing the hearth and home kitchen witchery, creating a kitchen altar, and recipes and rituals for nourishment the witch’s altar, tools, and spells, and creating a sacred space, no matter the size of the home herbs and plants, grounding rituals, and meditations to connect you with the earth witchy self-care, complete with rituals and recipes for ritual bath salts, oils, balms, and more

A fascinating, vivid global history of witch trials across Europe, Africa, and the Americas, told through thirteen distinct trials that illuminate the pattern of demonization and conspiratorial thinking that has profoundly shaped human history. Witchcraft is a dramatic journey through thirteen witch trials across history, some famous—like the Salem witch trials—and some lesser-known: on Vardø island, Norway, in the 1620s, where an indigenous Sami woman was accused of murder; in France in 1731, during the country’s last witch trial, where a young woman was pitted against her confessor and cult leader; in Pennsylvania in 1929 where a magical healer was labelled a “witch”; in Lesotho in 1948, where British colonial authorities executed local leaders. Exploring how witchcraft became feared, decriminalized, reimagined, and eventually reframed as gendered persecution, Witchcraft takes on the intersections between gender and power, indigenous spirituality and colonial rule, and political conspiracy and individual resistance. Offering a vivid, compelling, and dramatic story, unspooling through centuries, about the men and women who were accused—some of whom survived their trials, and some who did not—Witchcraft empowers the people who were and are victimized and marginalized, giving a voice to those who were silenced by history.

One Friday night in the city of Melbourne, aspiring concert pianist Ella Wentworth mesmerizes an audience of eight hundred people. Yet she's distraught; she missed a note, and her perfectionism consumes her. Moments later, her hair turns arctic white, and her world descends into Disneyesque hallucinations where everyday objects appear to sparkle, levitate, and...flash mob. Ella is referred to Dr Kendra Hamilton, who specializes in treatment for “post-traumatic stress in cases of trauma-induced spontaneous hair depigmentation.” But with Dr Hamilton's tennis player grip and capacity to draw bolts of energy from the sky, Ella believes there's more to this psychiatrist's credentials than MD. What does this mental health professional mean by “you're a witch?” Unfortunately, everyone but Ella is frothing about her rare magic skills, and soon she becomes the target of nefarious beings. And all this magical hoo-ha unfolds behind the backs of her husband and daughter. Max is Ella's sweetheart whom she would never (normally) lie to. But any day now, she'll confess she's a witch. Right? Right? The Magic Investigations Society Archive is a genre-bending cozy mystery series filled with paranormal fantasy adventure.

And if I don't clear my name, the coven can strip my powers. Or worse: kill me. From the moment I enter the courtroom, I know the coven want me gone. Permanently. I'm viewed in the same deceitful, dangerous light as my murdering ancestors. A fair trial seems impossible, and allies are short on the ground. Until two witches with links to the coven approach me. My visions could help them, and sway my sentence. Or they could use my trust to condemn me. A Dangerous Witch is the second book in a new, exciting urban fantasy series.

The Witch S Flight written by Kara Keeling and has been published by Duke University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-11-05 with Performing Arts categories.

Kara Keeling contends that cinema and cinematic processes had a profound significance for twentieth-century anticapitalist Black Liberation movements based in the United States. Drawing on Gilles Deleuze’s notion of “the cinematic”—not just as a phenomenon confined to moving-image media such as film and television but as a set of processes involved in the production and reproduction of social reality itself —Keeling describes how the cinematic structures racism, homophobia, and misogyny, and, in the process, denies viewers access to certain images and ways of knowing. She theorizes the black femme as a figure who, even when not explicitly represented within hegemonic cinematic formulations of raced and gendered subjectivities, nonetheless haunts those representations, threatening to disrupt them by making alternative social arrangements visible. Keeling draws on the thought of Frantz Fanon, Angela Davis, Karl Marx, Antonio Gramsci, and others in addition to Deleuze. She pursues the elusive figure of the black femme through Haile Gerima’s film Sankofa, images of women in the Black Panther Party, Pam Grier’s roles in the blaxploitation films of the early 1970s, F. Gary Gray’s film Set It Off, and Kasi Lemmons’s Eve’s Bayou.
