Ethnic diversity has marked the United States from its inception, and it is impossible to separate ethnicity from an understanding of the United States as a country and “Americans” as a people. Since the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act, the United States has experienced watershed transformations in its social, cultural, and ethnic geographies. Considering the impact of these wide-ranging changes, this unique text examines the experiences of a range of ethnic groups in both historical and contemporary context. It begins by laying out a comprehensive conceptual framework that integrates immigration theory; globalization; transnational community formation; and urban, cultural, and economic geography. The contributors then present a rich set of case studies of the key Latin American, Asian American, and Middle Eastern communities comprising the vast majority of newer immigrants. Each case offers a brief historical overview of the group’s immigration experience and settlement patterns and discusses its contemporary socioeconomic dynamics. All these communities have transformed—and been transformed by—the places in which they have settled. Exploring these changing communities, places, and landscapes, this book offers a nuanced understanding of the evolution of America's contemporary ethnic geographies.

The most comprehensive encyclopedia available on the U.S. government's responses to poverty from the colonial era to the present day. Poverty and the Government in America: A Historical Encyclopedia looks at one of the most important and controversial issues in U.S. history. Debated vigorously every election year, poverty is a topic that no politician at any level of government can escape. Ranging from colonial times to the New Deal, from Lyndon Johnson's War on Poverty to welfare reform and beyond, it is the only encyclopedia focused exclusively on policy initiatives aimed at underprivileged citizens and the impact of those initiatives on the nation. Poverty and the Government in America offers over 170 entries on policies implemented to alleviate poverty—their historic contexts, rationales, and legacies. The encyclopedia also features separate essays on how poverty has been addressed at federal, state, local, and Native American tribal levels throughout U.S. history. Complimented by a richly detailed chronology and a wealth of primary documents, these features help readers grasp both the broad contours of government efforts to fight poverty and the details and results of specific policies.

The general consensus among a majority of social media platforms is the Trump Administration, thus far, has done a very poor job, regarding the management of the SARSr-CoV-SARS CoV-2 Human Coronavirus Pandemic in the United States. Many have charged President Donald Trump with mismanagement of the COVID-19 Novel Virus; his leadership has been described many times as being a mixture of incompetency, unpresidential decision-making, fantasy, conspiracy theories and social divisiveness driven by intentional, systemic racism. When this novel virus made it to America in January 2020, President Donald Trump called it a "Hoax", and he has maintained, publicly, it is not real; but privately, he knew from the outset, that COVID-19 is deadly. By September 16, 2020, 196,908 American Lives have been lost. One of the main underlying conditions of the "Hoax Thesis" is the Trump Administration's Blueprint, which is the central theme of this book. Quietly, and without any "panic," the latter has managed the greatest transfer of wealth, from the public sector to the private sector in American History. Initiating a Trade Tariff War against China, "ventilators" were excluded. As the American death toll mounted, a hyper-market demand was created for this and other critical healthcare products. Under the AirBridge Project, one round trip to China to bring back to America such commodities cost the American Taxpayers $750,000! FEMA paid the bill. While this "Supply Chain" was operating behind the scenes, the Black Lives Matter Movement Demonstrations erupted across America and the world-sparked by the George Floyd Murder. It is passionately argued that social justice for African-Americans is best paid in the form of a $20 million to$150 million Reparation payment for each descendant of African Slaves. This Reparation would make Police Brutality Reform unnecessary. Interestingly, Joe Biden awarded $12 million to the Jewish Holocaust Survivors in 2015.

She put a very relatable if surprising face on depression and has helped lessen the stigma surrounding mental health issues. But Ginger tells us, Natural Disaster was "Ginger Lite" and only scratched the surface. In this moving follow-up, Ginger shares her truest self. She spent most of her life shielding her vulnerabilities from the world all while being a professional people pleaser. Her stormy childhood, her ongoing struggles with crippling depression, her suicide attempts, and many other life experiences will resonate with readers who are likely to see themselves along the way. In spite of its serious subject matter, Ginger's positive, life-affirming outlook comes through loud and clear. Written with great heart and quite a bit of humor, Ginger normalizes issues and challenges millions of people face every day.
