The Book focuses on the Author's anecdotes in Africa, India, Asia, and Oceania, where he spent many adventurous years tramping the various sea routes, calling at small and large ports alike. The book captivates the last of an era, when ships all possessed their own particular "heart and character" and were crewed by what may be affectionately referred to as a "different breed" of seafarer. I have tried to recreate and bring to life how it really was.
