A Treatise Of The Knowledge Of God written by Peter Du Moulin and has been published by Puritan Publications this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-01-16 with Religion categories.

In this exceptionable and scholarly work that is written with a practical flair, Du Moulin covers the manner in which men come to a knowledge of God through special revelation. The doctrine of knowing God is the foundation of Christian theology and the prerequisite of all true faith. Du Moulin covers human reason, the image of God in man, the Essence of who God is and how to define him, the Need for a special revelation of God’s Word to us and how true knowledge is attained through scripture. He demonstrates that the knowing God through the Word of God is a study in God’s personal communications through the prophets and apostles, and set down for all-time in the written Word. While this work gives us information about knowledge concerning God and Christ with clarity and grace, it does much more: it aids us in actually knowing him, in building our relationship with him, and helps draw us closer to him in love and worship. The Vision Of The Wheels A Treatise On The Providence Of God written by Matthew Mead and has been published by Puritan Publications this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-10-31 with Religion categories.

This work by Mead is on the providence of God. Mead demonstrates through Ezekiel’s vision of the wheels that God is the great Creator of all things and upholds, directs, disposes and governs all creatures and actions, from the greatest even to the least. God does this by his most wise, holy and infallible knowledge and the free and immutable counsel of his own will. Mead uses as his main text of Scripture, “As for the wheels, it was cried to them in my hearing, “O Wheel!” (Ezekiel 10:13). He not only expounds on how God’s providence works generally, but how Christians should respond to God’s providence knowing that God is ultimately in control of everything, crowned by the redemption of the church through Jesus Christ. Those who have had a difficult time understanding Ezekiel’s vision of the wheels will find this exposition refreshing, insightful and practical for their spiritual growth. A Treatise On Grace And Free Will written by Saint Augustine of Hippo and has been published by Aeterna Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on with Religion categories.

There are some persons who suppose that the freedom of the will is denied whenever God’s grace is maintained, and who on their side defend their liberty of will so peremptorily as to deny the grace of God. This grace, as they assert, is bestowed according to our own merits. It is in consequence of their opinions that I wrote the book entitled On Grace and Free Will. This work I addressed to the monks of Adrumetum, in whose monastry first arose the controversy on that subject, and that in such a manner that some of them were obliged to consult me thereon. The work begins with these words: “With reference to those persons who so preach the liberty of the human will.” Aeterna Press

A Treatise On The Law And Gospel written by John Colquhoun and has been published by Ravenio Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1819 with Religion categories.

"The subject of this treatise," writes Colqohoun, "is in the highest degree, important and interesting, both to saints and to sinners. To know it experimentally, is to “be wise unto salvation;” and to live habitually under the influence of it, is to be at once holy and happy. To have spiritual and distinct views of it, is the way to be kept from verging towards self-righteousness, on the one hand, and licentiousness, on the other; and to be enabled to assert, the absolute freeness of sovereign grace, and at the same time, the sacred interests of true holiness. Without an experimental knowledge, and an unfeigned faith, of the law and the gospel, a man can neither venerate the authority of the one, nor esteem the grace of the other." This classic is organized as follows: Introduction Chapter I. Of the Law of God in General Chapter II. Of the Law of God as Promulgated to the Israelites From Mount Sinai Chapter III. Of the Properties of the Moral Law Chapter IV. The Rules for Understanding Aright the Ten Commandments Chapter V. Of the Gospel of Christ Chapter VI. Of the Uses of the Gospel, and of the Law in Subservience to the Gospel Chapter VII. Of the Difference Between the Law and the Gospel Chapter VIII. Of the Agreement Between the Law and the Gospel Chapter IX. Of the Establishment of the Law by the Gospel Chapter X. Of the Believer’s Privilege of Being Dead to the Law as a Covenant of Works, With a Highly Important Consequence of It Chapter XI. Of the High Obligations Under Which Believers Lie, to Yield Even Perfect Obedience to the Law as a Rule of Life Chapter XII. Of the Nature, Necessity, and Desert of Good Works To the Reader

A Treatise Of Divine Meditation written by John Ball and has been published by Puritan Publications this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-08-19 with Religion categories.

Ball said, "No Christian can exempt himself from this duty of meditation unless he intends to live unprofitably to others, uncomfortably to himself, and disobedient against God." Hear one of his instructions on how to meditate: "O! heavenly Father, I heartily desire to follow You wherever You shall lead me, to do what You shall command, and to cleave to You as long as I live. But I find the flesh rebellious, soliciting daily, yes, and violently hailing to those things that are evil. Ah, miserable wretch that I am, who shall deliver me from this body of death? You, Lord, are only able, and willing to promise help and succour. To You therefore do I fly. I pray You have mercy on me in Jesus Christ, and repair the lost image of Yourself. Your hands have made me, and fashioned me; give me understanding, and I shall live. You created me pure, You can restore me, though corrupt. Create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me. Breathe into me the Spirit of Life, and establish me in the way of Your precepts. Heal my soul, for I am defiled, and cause me to grow up into the perfect stature of a spiritual man. I have wounded my soul, but cannot cure it, defaced Your image, but cannot fashion it anew. Look on my misery, dear Father, forgive my sin, and make me a new creature for Your infinite mercy, begin in me this good work, and perfect it to Your praise; in You do I trust, to You I seek for grace, for in You the fatherless find mercy." Ball divides this work into three areas: 1) what meditation is and its importance, 2) what occasional or extemporary meditation is, and 3) what solemn meditation is. Serious theological thinking is fundamental to all right Christian doing. Ball will show that godly meditation is a commanded, necessary and a spiritual help to the Christian being a vital component of a Christian living to God. In other words, everyone that names the name of Christ is required to meditate for God’s glory and their benefit. There is no duty more neglected among Christians than this duty of meditation. Therefore, you should not only read over this work, but live it over. If you would be blessed in all your enterprises or concernments with the blessings of God, (Joshua 1:8), if you would have your understanding enlightened with the knowledge of God, your affections inflamed with the love of God, your heart established with the promises of God, your solitariness cheered up with the company of God, your afflictions mitigated with the comforts of God, and if you would have your thoughts, words and works regulated by the command of God, pray and consider, pray and meditate.
