When teaching it is very important that your learning material has been tested after designing and developed it. All lessons need to be planned; you need to decide who will help you with each task. You must ensure that your course material is completed in time and ready to use. You should get feedback from tutors who are using your material for their teaching. What you must remember is that your material can be re-used or redesigned, not completely but slightly to suit the teachers teaching style. When designing course material, you need to take into consideration the type of students you sre going to be delivering to. Try to keep your hand-outs, notes and material simple; don’t forget the course material designed you will be using for your sessions. When designing material it needs to have structure, how do you know that the material you are designing is correct? Ask a member of staff for help, look at their layout of course material and where and who helped them put it together, it will give you some sort of an idea. Check and test the material before delivering your course. It will be to late recognise problems during your session. However you need to make notes of the material used for example • Is the material suitable for learners depending on age and ability? • Will the learners be able to understand and work from your material? • Would you be comfortable using your own material or rather use material which has been provided?
